Went Costco here in Maryland and picked up 3 case of Mobil 1 today. With the $10 off it comes to $26.99 which is $4.50 per quart. The limit is 3 per visit.

Do you need a coupon? Or is that the posted price?

Ours doesn't look at coupons anymore. There was a mention of showing the Costco app on the smart phone, but even that was waved away the 2nd time we tried it. If they won't give you the coupon price, don't buy it.

Many people use Mobil 1 and other synthetics in order to lengthen their oil change frequency. Instead of 5K miles, they'll change oil at 15K. They'll just change the filter and top off the oil every 5K miles.

My son in law tore down a ZR1 Corvette engine with 20K miles that'd had synthetic oils put in it. He said the bearings and the inside of the motor looked absolutely brand new.'

I've used synthetics on and off for years. Only down is that they'll find the smallest of leaks in any gasket--and they're relatively expensive.

I have used Mobil 1 in all my vehicles for many years. The three that I own now all recommend changing the oil at 7500 miles. I do not extend the oil change mileage because I use synthetic. In fact I change them all on the 5000 mark and replace the filter. I don't see where there is much extra cost when you can get it on sale for $4.50 a quart. Is Mobil 1 any better than a good quality dino oil? Who knows it could very well be a waste of money and I know you can read all kinds of testing on oil. I only posted the fact that Costco had it on sale for those who use it and want to save some money. I am certainly not trying to tell anyone it's any better. I have no leaks on any of my present vehicles and have never had an engine failure on any vehicle I have ever owned, that includes the time when I was using Penzoil and changing the oil at 3000 miles.

I was always told that you can't change from Regular Motor Oil to synthetic? Have things changed? I have often thought about switching but then remember that. Would you/do you then use in the Gennie also?
My MH has 52,000 miles and the Genni just under 300 hours
Just Curious,
Tim

I bought a 6-pack of the 5w-30 for my 4.0 TJ's next change. I'm running 0w-40 in my 4K Onan and 15w-50 in my 800 Polaris.
No problem going from dino to Mobil 1 and so far no leaks.

I buy used stuff that has been on Dino and immediately change to Mobil 1. Never had any problems.
