Has anyone removed the table and built or placed a work desk in its place? Would love to see some pics and ideas. Thanks

Worl Desk in place of Table
lpkirby,
I removed the standard bench seating and table and replaced it with a buffet cabinet and separate chairs. There are only two of us and we didn't like the bench. After checking with Fleetwood for a matching cabinet to the rest of the coach I built my own and saved tons of $$$$. The left drawer is replaced with a laptop tray and the right is still a drawer. The table extends to seat 5 comfortably. The storage below holds the laptop bag, printer and lots more. Could also be made to hold a file drawer. When you fold the laptop up and slide it in, it still looks like a dining room table.

Cool. I just finished the same mod over thanksgiving. I got a cooktop stove so we can still cook but we never used the oven. I got the deep 18inch washer. Looks like yours is the deep model too. I will try to post a pic. Now I need to sell the oven.

Sportech - Two Questions
Beautiful job. How the heck is table top changed from two seating to four and no visable leg in four seating configuration WOW - how does that work. I very much like you mod and think DW will be an easy sell for that it.

ctpres,
The table top is a duplicate of the Fleetwood top and mechanism. The top is actually 3" wider as I ended up with more room than what they did. There is a 10" leaf and the standard top goes about 12" under the buffet cabinet. So, you have 3 lengths available: all the way in, pulled out to the edge of the buffet top and with the leaf installed. Yes, the table support is a nice one! All the load goes into the wall. It locks in place when all the way in. I wouldn't want anyone to sit on it with the table pulled out but for dining it's fine. The picture shows the table pulled out to the second position.

Sportech thats a great job you did on the table
looks to me like you are a cabinet maker.
I think if we keep putting mods on this thread
we could beat the WM thread I know
there is a lot of mods out there.
anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR and be safe.

Sportech, I am sorry to ask this, but do you have any pictures showing it closed and the building process? I love it because it is a table and I see it as a desk for me. I am just not visualizing the leaf working and storage, looks way to long. Thanks and GREAT Work!

We also replaced the dinette With a jlounge. *It was just a place for the kids to pile stuff and they always fought over the couch. *We added a removable table between the captains chairs.

New table:
It is removable with a locking base.

Taz, Very Nice. I just can't see the table, I never use the one at the house either.
Nice Work!

That is a great job. It is exactly what we want to do. What model dishwasher did you install? We plan to do the identical mod to our RV since we don't use the oven. Any other tips you can share?
