Morryde IS system

Has anyone converted their 5er suspension over to the Morryde IS? If so, some pros and cons please. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rick! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

We pulled 5ers for 12 years before getting the MH but never messed with the suspension.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Rick
Rick,
I just had MORryde install IS and Disc Brakes along with MORryde Rubber Pin Box this week. Install was finished on Thursday. I am getting ready to make the 472 mile journey home this morning. I will tell you that the 10 mile drive back to campground from MORyde was most definitely smoother and braking was amazing. The professionalism of all the people at MORryde is truly awesome. The piece of mind and added safety were well worth the cost of this for me. If you have questions call Rob Kolean @ 574-293-1581 ext 1256 or rob.kolean@morryde.com.

It's good - ruined me for much else. But better than suspension is the disc brake upgrade, so make sure you get that as well if you convert.

We had it done last November. We had the Dexter axles and hubs removed and replaced with the IS and Kodiak discs and hubs. We already had disc brakes so the hydraulic system was already there.

The total work time was about a day and a half. Everyone at the MorRyde service center was very professional and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We had been given a price for the work to be done and that is what it was, to the penny. We spent one night inside the service center which also had some other types of work going on so it was a bit noisy but not anything we couldn't tolerate.

We have only put about 2K miles on ours since the install but I could tell the difference in the ride of trailer. We have an air ride hitch which makes it a little more difficult to tell the difference but what I noticed is the up and down motion of the trailer on the hitch was greatly reduced. My goal was to reduce the stresses on the fifth wheel with the ultimate goal of making it last longer. We also were having some issues with the Dexter axles which probably would have been cheaper to fix but after a lot of research I decided the MorRyde was the best way for us to go.

Repair after installation

Ok... I'm almost sold on the MORryde IS system. But, my one reservation is what happens if I'm in Tampa and we breakdown??? The only service centers are Oregon and Indiana. Please help put my mind at ease.

Once the suspension is installed, replacing parts is fairly simple. I had to replace a suspension bushing in a campground in Alaska. I've got a video of the install, but haven't uploaded to Youtube yet.

They also shipped the parts two day air to me. I had to cover the extra expedited shipping cost, but standard shipping would have been free.

I think just about any mobile RV tech or service center should be able to repair parts, and they have a pretty good list of places that can align them, if needed.

Thanks for your quick reply. Do you know what caused your failure and how many miles after installation did the failure occur? Granted, nothing is foul proof, however, making sure this system is less prone to failure than to typical leaf suspension is what I need to know. Especially after laying the money down.

Loaded heavy and on the Alcan highway. They have also had issues with the rubber not bonding to the mounting plate, but I don't thing that was the case. My trailer needs to go on a diet.
