Motorhome entry door lock broke

Tried to open entry door from outside. It wasn’t locked. It’s been working fine all week. But not now. I guess I’m lucky I have access from the cab to living quarters in my class C. Looked on YouTube and found a pot metal piece in the door lock that breaks is probably the problem. I took it apart and that’s what it looked like. I can replace the lock when I get home in a couple of days. Anyone have this problem and if so is there a way to unlock without destroying the whole lock? Like I said, just an inconvenience right now.

I had that happen the day we were leaving. I was happy I had a Class C. Removed the inside part of the lock and used needle nose pliers to pull the broken latch open. I then locked the door with the dead bolt until I got to where I was going. I replaced the whole latch (ordered from Amazon). You will either have to replace the whole lock or find the repair kit, which some people use. I don't know the name of the kit, but I believe they have them on Ebay. Make sure of the make and model of your lock. Hope this helps. Safe travels.

I cannot thank you enough. Decided to give it another try this morning. Took it apart and found the latch. With the needle nose pliers I was able to slide the latch. Once the door was open I removed the latch. I found the broken pieces that operate the latch yesterday. And like you said the dead bolt will work for now. Happy camper!!
