The engine isn't a motor home engine, it's a GM / Ford, gasoline, or a Cummins / Cat, diesel engine.
Identifie the engine make and model, and look for a mobile mechanic or medium duty truck, repair shop and see if they will work on it.

1982
The only two options available were the Caterpillar 3208, non-turbo with 175 hp and the upgrade Detroit Diesel 8.2-liter turbo 205-hp engine. Neither power plant was up to the challenge of pushing a 35-foot, 22,000-pound motorhome uphill while towing a dinghy vehicle on a hot day.

Those were the days - any good diesel mechanic should be fine - the engine was a staple of the Construction industry in the 80's - I'd tend to look for someone with a little Grey on top. -
Best of Luck,

Hi Donald! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Congrats on the new rig! Hope someone in that area can help. Keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
