Motorhome stuck in mud

Well we went to get the rv out of storage all was going well, Batteries in, started right up, backed out of shed then after about 50 feet she sank. Now the work begins, tomorrow I and the future son-in-law will get out the blocks and hope for the best. Pray for me I might lose my patience, I'll try to be good.

Just take it easy, think it through, and should come out ok

If bad comes to worse the farm that it's at has a 325 hp stieger tractor. But I don't want to wreck anything. I'll be careful, this is what happens when the DW wants the rv in the yard at home. She's eager to hit the road as I am but good old Wisconsin weather won't cooperate.

Would it be possible to freeze the mud with propane? Or trying to get unstuck in the early morning?

we sank a 40 foot bounder once

i used the jacks to lift her up and place boards under the wheels and inched out 5 feet at a time

the first time i laid blocks under the jacks and they sank about 10" then we retracted them and did it again until the blocks stop sinking, then i lifted the rear off the ground and put boards under the wheel, then repeated the front wheels

it took us about three hrs

and a lot of pain killers

hard part was digging the blocks out of the ground the next day

Be carefull jacking. Jack both sides equally. I made the mistake of jacking one side more than the other. All went well till the windsheld cracked from wracking.Tow truck showed up and tried to fasten chain where it would have crushed the generator exhaust.Suggested he connect on the other side.pulled right out.

Interesting,when the frost goes out. The trick is to get it jacked up and one needs to be very very careful if that is what you need to do, to get some firm footing under the wheels. Old pieces of rug help hold the material and it spreads out the weight.
If it will move at all,you might be able to place some old carpet strips under the wheels,then add some crushed stone on top of the carpet. Slowly filling up the larger then you want rut by moving the coach back and forth.
Then if the area is real wet you might want to lay down pieces of carpet with plywood on top to support the couch through any remaining soft spots.
The carpet spreads out the weight and plywood or planks help to increase to area the weight is spreed over.
Like building a road through a swamp.

I hate getting called to a MH stuck in sand or mud there is just so much potential for damage. Do you have an extended warranty or service plan that includes towing? As already mentioned calling a tow truck especially if you'll get reimbursed for it should be the plan of the day.

We are in a similar situation with our motorhome. It is only about ten feet to get the the road, but it is pretty much in a mud pit at the moment. We tried to move it but the right rear wheel just dug in.

If we don't get it towed out, we will have to wait for the ground to dry out. Now that the snow has melted, any idea on how long we will have to wait?

We were in Hutchinson,KS at the FMCA convention when a lot of motorhomes got stuck in the mud. The local John Deers dealer came out with a tractor and pulled them all out.

He had a chain with a plug to put into the rear hitch receiver. Inserted the plug and pulled everyone of them out backwards.

Did they have someone in the motorhome trying to back it out at the same time?

I have heard of propane tank haulers doing this to get unstuck
