Good clarification LandK...thanks. I tried finding the info on a website but couldn't, and I didn't remember specifics when I moved here years ago.

So Rueben, looks like other than standard fees for tags etc the budget hit will be the PPT....which will end up probably around the same as your AL tags. :(

The fees are based on gross weight and/or number of axels.
Sales tax is Only charged on a new or used vehicle that is purchased and brought into Arkansas while you are already a Arkansas resident.
Moving to Arkansas with a vehicle already registered in another state will require a license tag fee and a title transfer fee, but not sales tax.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!

I can accept the yearly tag cost, but the sales tax was throwing me for a loop. We have been working on our options where we would sell our (paid for) home in Alabama and then find something in NW Arkansas. Factoring in an additional $10,000 was mind boggling.

This doesn't give all your fees involved but may be a start:

This gives more information regarding taxes....

You would probably have saved yourself at lot of grief if you would have just called the DMV.

I didn't mainly due to I hate talking on the phone being I was born with hearing issues.
