Motorhome Tag Costs - NW Arkansas?

We are contemplating moving to NW Arkansas next year to be closer to family. If anyone has a 40' diesel motorhome that lives in that area how much are you paying for your tag each year? Just trying to work up a preliminary budget. I am paying $1,500 a year here in Alabama. I don't know what County we would move to yet, but it would be around Rogers, AR.

Tags are not expensive in Arkansas....I think mine is like $25 or something like that.
What will kill you is the Personal Property tax that the county will charge you. It more than makes up for the low tag cost. I have older cars, a motorcycle and a 38' Fleetwood 2008 model. My PPT bill due every Oct is $1400.

And to transfer the title to Arkansas you will have to pay Sales Tax. That's going to be the big expense.

I believe that the State goes by purchase price....at least they did for me. But then I wasn't bringing in a vehicle. Not sure how they value vehicles already in possession...but I'm guessing they have a book of value or something.
You may want to get on the AR web sites for vehicles fees. Oh...and sorry...it's 6.5% not 6%.

Do all states do this? This could be $10,000.

I want to clarify what I am reading here.

If I move from Alabama to Arkansas I would have to pay 6.5% sales tax on my motorhome that I bought three years ago? I am assuming this has to be done in order to get Arkansas tags. Plus I would have to pay personal property ("ad valorem) fees each year when I renew my tags on top of the tag fees. This is how Alabama is.

In normal times all of these questions could be answered by stopping by a DMV office, but this is not normal times. Everything has switched to online, which does not give you much info.

Google the phone number of a county where you might want to live and call.

License Fee - $502.25
State - $178.36
County - $260.68
City - $137.20
School - $369.28

I just renewed the tags on my class C. Because it’s a motorized vehicle it requires yearly renewal. If it had been a travel trailer, it is a one time license fee (why? I haven’t figured that out)
The yearly registration fee was $30 + $2.50 (listed a a “special fee”) + .39 for postage = $32.89
The fees are based on gross weight and/or number of axels.
Sales tax is Only charged on a new or used vehicle that is purchased and brought into Arkansas while you are already a Arkansas resident.
Moving to Arkansas with a vehicle already registered in another state will require a license tag fee and a title transfer fee, but not sales tax.
