Move out of the Rockies?

My family and I are thinking of moving back to Minnesota from Utah. Are there good camping sites in the Upper Midwest? I realize I'm moving from one of the best places in the US to camp but is it at least decent? We are in between going back to Minnesota or going to Colorado for a job opportunity.

Unfortunately in today's economy job opertunity trumps just about everything else. I'd go where the future looks brightest.

Both have secure jobs for me, thats why I am trying to decide. I LOVE the mountains here in Utah but LOVE the people of Minnesota. So Denver/Colorado are kinda the big question with the people there, and I have heard the parks and camping there are very commercial now and dont have the pristine nature feel that Utahs parks or the forest up north in Minnesota have.

I live in the Upper Penisula of Michigan and we have excellent campgrounds from very primative boondocking to private campgrounds with full hookups. Northern Wisconsin also has many great campgrounds both public and private.

You recreation life will change with more emphasis on water based activity. That is camping on the edge of a lake for example. And there is even skiing in the mid west. We moved over thirty years ago from Michigan to Kansas where I became a pilot and enjoyed flying all around the country. so now I have done both and would not redo any of the past things we have done. You will adjust. Much more important to enjoy the job.
