I live in Spanish Fort out hwy 31 in an Adams subdivision where homes are selling for 170-200k with a few on the market now... Up the road a piece (closer to Spanish Fort and across the street for the mall - Eastern Shore Center) is Timber Creek where you can find homes in the 250K to 400k range. I work in downtown Mobile, ride the Bay Linc (bus) for most of my 18 (one way) mile commute.. PM or email me if you want any more info on the area.

Thanks again for the info. We should be heading that way in 3-4 weeks. The search will begin.

You are moving near a piece of heaven in my book. I'm from Alabama and I escaped from there to join the Marines in 1978 - but moved back to help take care of my dad and stayed another 17 years. Then I moved to Colorado six years ago - permanently . . . just couldn't handle the heat and humidity. But in the winter, there's no more beautiful place to be than Dauphin Island. If Alabama is anything like Colorado - where I lived until I went full-time, the fines for having an RV registered in another state are astronomical. Unless the RV was "gifted" to you and you didn't pay anything for it . . .
