Most places to store have covered sites- I used one (Magnolia) for the first half of this year. You do want to store under cover-lots of rain and then green stuff.
I lived in Houston for 6 years and used my trailer often, just need ac. Have fun!
PS i left children there.

I lived in Houston 2 years in the 80's and it was a mess, I worked at Pennzoil downtown. I was there last month and it is a bigger mess. To answer some of your questions. We live in central Texas and use our motor home year around. We go to the coast fishing in December, February, June and September for 3 weeks at a time. To winterize I drain the water tank into the pool, pull the plug in the water heater and open the low point drains. My coach is parked in my backward uncovered with tire covers installed. It is shaded on both sides by trees and buildings. After 6 years I don't see any paint of roof deterioration. It is plugged into 30 amp service with residential fridge running. I leave 1 air conditioner running in hot weather and 2 ceramic heaters in cold weather. Welcome to Texas.

Thanks both,

I don't want to face the hour commute to work and back on the gulf coast so will probably settle outside Houston.

At present in Michigan we are away in our MH every 2 to 3 weeks for 3 nights and a couple of 5-7 nights nights also from April to November.

We do have 3 sided covered storage for 55$ five minutes from our house now.

We live just north of the Houston city limits and it's as bad on the RV here as we had in the years and various RV we owned while living in Las Vegas. The paint on the upper rolled edge, above the drip channel, of the RV has taken a beating even though I have been climbing up on it and doing a hand wax twice a year. The going price, if you can find a facility is around $250-300 for enclosed storage. Recently actually the past few days, we have been looking for just covered storage and it appears if one can be found, 125 to 175 is the going rate. So far for the two years that we have been here, we have settled for uncovered and are paying $50 per month.

That sure is lot more expensive that what I am paying now.

My coach is probably worth 25k tops, keeping it outside is probably best.

I lived in Houston for 8 years and used air conditioning about 10 months out of the year. Stay away from the bayous or your home will be flooded usually every other year

Hi,

I told my wife we are not going to even consider a house in a coastal or flood plain area.

The city I live near in Michigan was under state of emergency recently due to flooding, luckily our house is on top of a very small hill.
