MSRP price increases.
Why have the winnebago msrp prices jumped up higher suddenly.
Our 2014 View had msrp of $115,000 but the similarly equipped 2018 model is $146,000.
I thought inflation was only slowly rising??

You actually have to ask???
One reason, and one reason only.
Because they can!!!!!
RV sales numbers continue at a record pace, following year after year of unit sales increases. Any and all RV manufacturers are making money hand over fist.
The end consumer....'will pay'....regardless of any price increase.
It ain't rocket science.

Have you actually done a line-by-line comparison of equipment? Or just the highlights. Also, some items, e.g. upholstery, flooring, etc. can be at different quality/price levels without changing the description at all.
The RV industry is extremely price competitive, so nobody is able to arbitrarily raise prices. If Winnie just upped the MSRP by 25%, a competitive brand would quickly eat their lunch. Fleetwood or Thor of Forest River would love to be able to increase their price by maybe 10% and still undercut Winnie dramatically. But that ain't gonna happen.

Same mentality as those that are selling their used RV. Asking price has nothing to do with reality but hey maybe someone will pay it?? And then if you buy it for 20% less than asking you think you got a deal

Ain't gonna happen? Price out a new Adventurer vs. the competition lately? Oh wait, you can't, they dropped it...
A 2017 Adventuer would have been like twice the price of our 2004. I know, 13 years, but DOUBLE?? Not too many other goods doubled their price in the same time frame. That's about 5.5% per year, around double the inflation rate. Would be fun to plot the MSRP of a roughly equivalent Adventurer say a 35U (give of take) over the years and inflation, or price of a new pickup.

Used prices are oftentimes driven by what is owed on the unit. The number of folks who's eyes are bigger than their wallets is pretty high. If there is a major downturn, which there will be at some point, a lot of rigs will show up with very unrealistic asking prices. Many more than what we currently see on the market.
The cost of new is also driven by changes in technology, increased regulation, and just general economics of a strong US dollar. It is not unusual to see price increases of 5-10% just about every year. It's been the same in the auto industry. Some of us can remember when automatic transmissions and air conditioning were luxuries that many of us didn't think were warranted. Now just about every luxury is available on even the most compact of vehicles and the prices have increased to reflect those luxuries.

I don't understand why everyone thinks price rises should be tied to the inflation rate. There is much more to it then that. Gary RVRoamer alluded to some of those things. If one manufacturer raised prices by a foolish margin the other manufactures would clean up on the overflow. Plus they wouldn't be in business long.

That's still only about a 6% increase per year, which seems pretty much in line with the industry. Some are a lot more, and of course you have to make sure you compare apples to apples. A simple addition, or better amenity could make a significant change in price. Either way when things are selling like hotcakes the prices usually don't go down year to year.

Right, the Class A model line-up has changed substantially in the past couple years. The Sightseer now occupies that price & amenities slot.
The main point, though, is vis-a-vis the Class C competition. Multiple other RV manufacturers have Sprinter-based Class C's that compete directly with the View. Winnebago enjoys a popular reputation, but is it enough for buyers to fork over and extra 25+% for the same equipment and size? The same buyers who shop all over the country to get an additional 1-2% discount off MSRP? I'll stick with my opinion that "it ain't gonna happen".

I wouldn't call 4 years a sudden change? How many other brands of competition have you made the same price comparison on? Gary is right about the price competition in the RV market. It is one of the most price-driven products we see. I would also point out that Winnebago is one of the few RV builders who post MSRP's on their website to allow potential customers to have a means of price comparing between dealerships. It would be nice if all RV builders were to do that same thing.

Not mentioned is the fact that many of the chassis, parts, appliances and other gadgets cost more and Winnebago (and other RV manufacturers) are passing on their increased costs.

As stated, 6% price increase each year over a 4 year period can hardly be classified as a "SUDDEN" increase in my book.
