I wouldn't be so quick to buy a second identical TPMS. Each sensor has an ID code as not to interfere with each other on the same system but also to ID which wheel the sensor is on. So sensor 1 in one system will be the same as sensor 1 in the next.

For example: If you buy a duplicate 6 sensor system, each sensor 1 through 6 will be keyed the same as your original system. So you could add a second monitor without sensors, the sensors from the original system will read on the second monitor. You would need a system with sensors numbered 7-12 from the mfgr to differentiate between the first system and the second.

Remember, they assemble these systems with sensors pulled from large numbered bins. If you have a 6 sensor system, they give you sensors numbered 1 to 6. If you have a 12 sensor system, they give you sensors numbered 1 to 12.

I hope that makes sense, I didn't want to write a book.

I'm guessing contact with the seller resulted in shrugged shoulders?

That hasn't been my experience. Case in point, what if you had to replace sensor 1? You don't order a unique sensor for position 1, you get a new one and the system is put into "learn" mode and you associate it with position 1. I think the ones you received were packaged that way (numbered) because they did the "learning" for you prior to shipment to make the installation on step easier.

We have done software development integrating a few TPMS systems into our control system and there are "function calls" to ask the TPMS receiver to go into the "learn mode". Each sensor broadcasts it's unique "digital fingerprint" that the receiver learns.

Anyone else have the experience of replacing one sensor?

I have replaced single sensors on our Tireminder system and as Davl mentioned you have to learn that sensor on the specific tire. Each sensor has a unique ID assigned at the factory this ID is what the receiver uses to know where on the coach\toad it is located.

What you describe is how every system I've owned has worked.

If it worked the way Rockbottom describes then my system would interfere with my neighbor who owns the same system. That would create havoc at the FMCA rally or stopped at a red light.

I only have experience with one TPMS system (Chinese off Ebay) which is the type the OP described. The TPMS I have only reads when the vehicle is moving + 12mph. So stopping at a red light or a rally wouldn't have any cross talk with another vehicle.

However I perused the manual and realized I likely misunderstood the section on reprogramming sensor (or possibly replacement) if it isn't recognized.

Carry on.

So, the only time it would cross talk is when you are driving side by side down the highway together...

The +12mph is there for battery conservation in the sensors. Has no bearing on limiting cross talk
