Thanks for posting. I found it a little while ago and was getting ready to post it after checking new posts and there you were.

I also searched for restaurants opening around Gatlinburg, TN and found they were open at 50% occupancy. May head that way as soon as my back lets up.

We'll all be hitting the road soon. Drive safe and enjoy - Richard

That's because it's not open yet. What I posted was for those opening.

Carlsbad is indoors so that may affect the opening. Here's their web site & it states it closed in March.

Hi
Does anyone know of a site that tells what is opening at which National park and when (if they know?) We wish to go into Death Valley. We have been led to believe that parts of it will begin to open June 19 but what parts? We are hoping to hike and visit the 4 wheel accessible parts and park at Panamint Springs and/ or Furnace Creek.

Not everything on that list is accurate. For example it says that the camp grounds at Teddy Roosevelt NP are open. I was to be a camp host there for the summer but was canceled. Was advised that the campgrounds will not open at all for the summer of 2020.

It's best to go to the individual national park site for up-to-date information. Death Valley is completely closed until California goes into Stage 3.

I don't see where it states the campgrounds are open. Here's what it says - "limited backcountry camping":

"Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota: All trails and trailheads within park boundaries, all roads in the North and South Unit (except South Unit road failure road), limited restroom facilities, picnic areas, backcountry camping and the Elkhorn Ranch Unit were all open. "

Also, all these sites are soon obsolete as things are changing. Best to contact each park to make sure and visit the park's web site, although Roosevelt hasn't updated theirs since May 9.

Check the park website. But CA is extreme blue and the National Parks are following the state policies where they are located. So when CA opens the parks will follow.

DVNP is a difficult place to visit in summer. The park used to close the back roads during the summer too, because they are too dangerous. So you need to see if you can even use the 4WD roads.

This is the frustrating part. The Governor said probably 19 for third stage. The website only says partial opening when stage three begins but not what a partial opening is? Probably Visitor stations ranger led activities and bathrooms closed and that would work for me.

Yes. I am hoping that someone here knows where to find the policies. I have always visited Death Valley in August.

I can wait. No prob. Just prospecting for little bits of information. Currently camped at around 5,000 feet in the Mojave Wildlife Preserve. Nice Joshua Tree Forrest and rock formations.

That's a shame that the national park has to wait until California goes into Stage 3. Death Valley would be the very best place to go during the virus - especially in August! Good luck getting there!!
