Here's what we use.

Hunter Ceramic Heater From Home Depot

Works great. Compact and effective. I did screw a drawer-pull handle to the top to make it easier to pick up off the floor and to stuff the cord into when not in use.

Ted......I went to Walmart, where they had several on display, and plugged each one in to see how loud they were. Since they're all the same wattage, I was able to find one that was relatively quiet. By law, they all have the same safety features.

Here's another tip....most of hem have a dial type thermostat. Once we found a heat that we found was comfortable, I took a Sharpie and marked it on the dial. This gave us a good reference point, since the heater was used infrequently.

One suggestion would be to run the AC unit on "fan only" mode. This will force more even heat distribution.

Give it a try.

I like the size as I do have a small space to add a shelf for one.

We use two oil fired heaters often.
