I have a weird situation... Wehn we bough our MH, part of the deal was that the dealer replace the slide topper. MMake a long story short, Dealer was in NC, had to order the parts, and would ship them too me when we were in Bloomington, IL.
Lost Parts. FINALLY found them, they were delivered to a wrong address. Either case, they are in Bloomington, IL now, and I am in Tampa.
Problem, UPS wwon't take it, its too long (17 ft.) FedEx or similar truck freight they "Cube it out" so my 35lb 17 foot long awning is over $300.00 to ship to Tampa. Clearly not worth it.
A friend suggest I look on-line for a "Ride Share" service, whereas someone may be coming through Bloomington to Tampa, they might tag it along for a small fee to help with gas...
My question is, first is there anyone here that is making that trip and is interested? and secondly, does anyone know of an internet service that matches up people in my situation?
Thanks Kindly!
John

Who is responsible for the delivery to the wrong place? Shouldn't they be helping you to straighten this out?

Terry,
Like I said it is a long involved story. Mostly the dealer is responsible since they addressed the box partially incorrect, Plus, the shipping company has some responsibility since the address was incorrect and they delivered it after repeated times the place it was deleivered told them it wasn't there's. Now, 3 months later, I finally found this piece, I really just want to get it to me... My salesman has left the dealership, and already have went round and round with the parts manager as to who should pay for shipping. I can see his side of it too, I WAS in Bloomington, and if the timing would have worked out that I was there when we found it, it wouldn't be a big deal at all... But, now I am in Tampa...
Any thoughts on getting it here cheap?
Thanks,
John

What part of the slide topper do you need, if it is just the vinyl that need to be replaced.
Have some remove it from the roller tube and fold it up in a box and ship it to you.

I thought about it doing that, but both pieces are pretty worn. The Fabric is beginning to fray and is just ichy looking, but then the slide is closed, there is a big dent in the current cover. The previous owner must have rubbed a tree or something. I really need to replace that piece also, since because it is bent, it rolls funny.
Thanks for the idea though!

John, you might want to post this on uShip, which is a division of e-Bay, I believe. You post what you have to ship and various shippers bid on it. You aren't obligated to accept any of the bids if they are too high for your budget. I used a guy I found on there to ship a WaveRunner who was doing just as you suggested(had an empty run and gave me a good deal).

Thanks for the tip, I found uShip yesterday, and did post there. It looks like a veery nice interface, I guess time will tell how it works.
Thanks again!
