Netflix on campground Wi-fi
We are full time and have a tailgator and Dish satelite provider. We want to get netflix, but not sure if campground wi-fi is good enough. We don't stay in one place for long periods and we don't boondock. Anyone have any info? Thanks

CG Wi-Fi is typically marginal for any usage, much less streaming. Plus streaming is negatively impacting other users. Suggest to get a cellular hotspot.

Although we have only been FT'ing for 6 months or so we have only been at one park with enough bandwidth to allow smooth viewing of Netflix without buffering on anything bigger than our iPads. When we go to cast it to the big TV it just laughs at us!!

If you go the 'hot spot' route, enjoy your new $100 and counting monthly cell bill.......

I watch Netflix shows, I cast from my phone to the hdmi of my tv. What I do is down load the show to my SIM card and watch later. I do the same with Amazon. It takes 5 or 10 min to down load a show on even a slow wi fi . So I down load when it's strong and save for when I want to watch. I had the full season of Peaky Blinders, The Crown and Grace and Frankie and it took up a few gig's and took about an hour.

The vast majority of park wi-fi's are not capable of streaming. Checking email & the occasional websurfing is usually the limit. Even if you could, you're hogging the bandwidth that's meant to supply the entire park. Not cool. Please get a hot spot.

I have the Verizon unlimited data on my phone, however, and I am so technology challenged, I am probably going to explain this wrong, but I use up a certain amount and then am put on a slower connection?? So I was thinking using my phone as a hotspot would not be practical.

I am not full time, before each trip I download content from Netflix to view offline.
You could do this at McDonald's or other location that has decent Wi-Fi.

LOL, you lost me at cast from my phone.... I have no comprehension of downloading to a SIM card, etc. Sounds more complicated than it's worth. And DH has less of an idea of this stuff than I do.

A lot of people don't know that you can create different usage profiles on Netflix. We do this, one for use in the S&B and another for traveling. The advantage is you set the playback settings to suit the device you stream through, such as a Verizon hotspot.
If you can live with a less than perfect screen resolution, you can stream at lesser amounts per hour. For example:
Low: up to 0.3 GB/hr - Basic video quality, low resolution
Medium: up to 0.7GB per hour, standard video quality, this is we use when we travel, decent enough resolution for an older 32" tv.
High: up to 3.0GB per hour, Best video quality. 7.0 GB per hour for Ultra HD
Auto: Default video qulaity and data usage. Be careful with this setting.
These settings are accessible in your Netflix Account settings, under Playback settings. I don't think you can access them via a tv, you have to access through your PC.
Also, you must have a device such as a newer tv, Roku, or Amazon Fire Stick that supports Netflix profiles. Older Roku's do not support profiles, as we found out the hard way. Bought a Amazon Fire Stick which we use strictly for travel.
Don't use the campground wifi, it already sucks and you'll just make it worse for those who just want to check their email.

Although some SIM cards have available space to store some data, most do not. He meant download it to a SD card which is a separate storage card you can use in a phone.
