New backup camera

My reverse camera gave up the ghost on our trip this summer.
I replaced it with a unit from Amazon.
Not only does it function as a backup camera but I use it as a rear view mirror. The resolution is much superior to my old camera. I attached it to my existing rear view mirror which did nothing. Awesome product and a great value.
Wireless so setup was a breeze.

Two things that bother me about this system. First being solar powered. What happens when it rains and is overcast all day, and then you are parked in shade? It happens! Also, what is the lifetime of the batteries. From experience, I've found those small batteries to last a year or so at best.
Now about the magnetic camera mount. My trailer is aluminum and others are fiberglass or Adzel. This means a steel plate would have to be screwed into the rear panel.

We purchased this one ended up getting it for 89.00 https://www.amazon.com/Backup-Camera...uvwoIGa-KJkuRp i wired it to a keyed hot wire in my overhead- rear view mirror consol and just rubber band it to the rear-view mirror. it sets to the side of the mirror so i can still view the backup camera on the tow vehicle. the camera is easy to mount useing screws or double sided tape. i picked up a hot wire in one of my lights at the top of the rear. this one works very good and is bright and easy to view.

My Forest River has the backup camera in the audio unit screen, absolutely useless to me.
I installed a 4 camera unit with back, sides and front. I removed the rear view mirror assembly and installed a mount for the video screen to attach too.
I didn’t want to drill the fiberglass full of holes to mount the cameras so instead I made a .5” cellular pvc base with T-nuts installed to mount cameras. I glued the bases to the fiberglass with 3m5200 adhesive. I then routed the cables along trim and under gutters then pulled them through one hole in the base of the over-cab

I'd rather see it with the option to hard wire the camera into the clearance lights. How does the camera power down when not in use?

Same here. I also have my monitor plugged into the key powered 12 volt plug on the dash.

This is what i did with mine. i atached it with a couple rubber bands, this way when i'm not towing ( rv stored for the winter) i can easily remove it and store it away. i connected to a wire in the overhead consol with the plug furnished with the monitor in the present position on the mirror i can still view my T/V rear view camera if i unhook for a day or two.
