Motorhead-54 posted info on this over in the Entegra Owner's forum, but I thought others might be interested!

If I can get a new AC that is not wrecked in shipment I will have two new AC's and will upgrade to the new thermostat. But not at the same time of course.

It is ridiculous to have to buy a new board to install in a new AC to make it backwards compatible to the old 5 button.

Just getting an AC in a reasonable amount of time is difficult.

Bought a new one from Amazon. Arrived in two weeks to my astonishment. Someone dropped it on its nose. It was a mess inside. Contacted Amazon. Send it back of course the next day. Fun wrestling with a 120 lb box.

Amazon gives refunds quickly so went online to buy a new one. In stock and weeks out and $300 more in just the two weeks since ordering this one.

Finally found a human at Amazon. It really takes grit to find some way to make contact. They were great and offered a $250 credit immediately and another $50 in store credit this week. As well as going to refund the broken one in a few days. Already hit for the charge for the new one of course. Only numbers on paper so no sweat. And to my surprise the new one is coming Monday. I think someone may have lit a fire under someone.

Amazon did a great job of helping me but the last unit had five or more defects inside. Fortunately I am an ET and sorted things out. Stripped shroud screws in all four corners so had to mend those.

And had to replace a brand new board with a brand new backwards compatible board of course and cross my fingers that it would fire up.

It has been roaring along nicely. They are all very loud of course so lots of money and time spend on those issues.

Thanks for listening Joe.

Myron, just wondering why you didn't upgrade to the CCC2 thermostat? The cost is about the same as buying the conversion board for the old rooftop unit.

Interesting product. I got tickled at the reference to using the touch screen as being “old fashioned”.

We got the thermostat for our Winnebago Class A and love it. On a cold morning we can start the heater from bed, and when away from the RV we can check the temperature in the RV to make sure itís comfortable for the dog.

The install was about a 10 minute job, in my case, because it was just unplugging the old one and using the same plugs for the new one. The hardest part for me was making sure we had the latest firmware. It took about three tries to update it. Also, Winnebagoís donít use the standard setup, but they give instructions for switching to their settings for Winnebagoís.

Does anyone know if the screen can be completely blacked out for night time sleeping? Even the existing Dometic T-Stat with the little green light bothers me. I see they have a dimmed night mode, but any light would be a deal killer. Perhaps someone already has one and could comment.

$250 for a RV thermostat... I just can't... nope. I would prefer to spend my money on something fun or that has a bigger impact, such as adding another battery to the battery bank.

The thermostat in my house which is WAY more capable cost about $100 less. It runs a multistage AC, multistage furnace, has 34 programming schedules, talks to the computer on the AC condensor to optimise cooling based on current temp and humidity allowing it to control humidity in addition to temp... it actually saves me money month after month paying for itself.

To each their own, but $250 for what in the end is nothing but a fancy switch with a blue tooth app and basic scheduling, I just can't do it. I'll stick with my "dumb" thermostat. I can get up and push a button to save $250

Here is what the manual says:
Day/Night mode. Day mode (shown above) will dim the display down to the screen saver set point after 30 seconds. Night mode (moon icon) will turn off the back light after 30 seconds. The display will brighten again once the touch screen is pressed. See (7) to set brightness.

Bit of a Dilemma.

The new thermostat will not work with two different control boards.

That is. Replaced Living Room AC last Summer after suffering for two months with a temporary one due to lack of availability.

The new replacement required the board change to be compatible with the one that was in the bedroom.

So right now I have one new AC, one old. The new AC has a backwards compatible board.

So I could change the new AC into the current production model and drop the new one in place which I may do and send the backwards compatible board back.

But to do that I would need the new thermostat and making two new changes at the same time is a recipe for disaster.

The condition these "New" AC's arrive in is questionable.

So... New AC will get the backwards compatible board. Then IF all goes well I will move forward with the new thermostat.

It's only money.

As a lifetime Electronic Tech I have learned many lessons. Change one thing at a time and test. Like changing spark plugs and wires. Change one or the other first and fire it up. I have never switched wire to the wrong plug before but I sure know someone that has.

Not sure how your comments are relevant to the discussion? Some folks love having the convenience of internet enabled thermostat.....especially when they have to go out and leave pets behind. Even with a Genset auto-start for climate control if shore power goes out...this device will send out alerts if temps get too high (you set the level) and you can also set the mode and temps remotely. If there is an onboard hotspot....it makes this device almost a "must have" for many.

Thanks for your useless comment.

I have installed one in our class-A with 3 units on it. (2 - 15k and 1 - 13.5k Colemans) Not been out on a trip with it yet but have used the A/C units in the driveway since I have it on shore power. I got it since my original thermostat(RVComfort.ZC) would act up on occasion and not let me adjust it or display a blank screen. It has been nice to turn on the A/C from my phone inside the house about an hour or so before going out to work on the interior without having to walk out to the coach about 80 feet from the garage in our 90 degree weather. Its also nice to be able to see the inside temps when we leave a pet for the day and do some sightseeing.
Expensive... yes. Installation... stupid simple to plug it into the existing wired socket I pulled off the original. Kept the old one just in case.

Thumbs up

Great addition Scott and for sure this thermostat from Micro-Air will be a game changer for many.

Does it measure the temp right at the thermostat?? Or does it somehow get a reading from the individual units? My rooms can be quite different temps.

It's no different than the OEM stat. Remote thermistors as normal wiring is still used.
