Me too. The actual floor plan meant very little to either of us, but the chassis and running gear, quality of the coach and most importantly condition of the coach was of paramount importance.

If quality was the only deciding factor we would all be driving Libertys or Newells, well maybe some of you would. At a given price point most all brands are built using the same components and chassis. Granted there are differences in how these components are combined and installed into the coach but the coach builders are at the mercy of there suppliers and the accountants trying to get the MSRP below a certain level. I would be willing to bet that if you lined up a Tiffin, a Newmar and a Fleetwood in a dealers lot, all within a 10% variance of price, the day they were built on will have as much to do with quality as does the name on the side. You can get a good one or a bad one from any manufacture.

I bought a Fleetwood used and never had a minutes trouble, bought a Tiffin new and talked really bad about Bob for the first 6 months of its existence. Two years later, those problems seem like a long ago bad dream, knock on wood! There are so many variables when deciding on you perfect coach, to me, floor plan is at the top of the list. When I walk in a MH, I know pretty quick if it's a coach that I could see myself spending extended time in. Then I look under the hood and check out the components. If it's not livable and meets my needs, it's irrelevant how well it's made and how long it will last because I'm not likely to own it long enough to find out.

I kinda agree with that. In my research it seems that most DP's have pretty much the same floor plan the bathroom being the only difference. There are exceptions of course and individual preferences may dictate the kitchen be on one side, dinette or table, etc. That's not a big deal for me, but for some that is a big deal.

The OP asks if new or used, diesel or gas, but he did say he was looking for an entry level coach. But entry level means different things to different people. A lower end Thor is very different than an entry level Newmar.

The components of most coaches may be made by the same manufactures but I would bet that most folks could tell pretty quickly if they were in a entry level Thor or a Newmar Dutch Star. I'm not trying to put down or elevate one builder over the other, just trying to say that there are differences in quality beyond the oven, microwave, drivetrain, etc.

After having a P30 chassis for years and wandering all over the road the drivability was our top concern. I really to a point did not care to much about floor plan.
We are still working full time and only have long weekends. We need something that drives nice. It's nothing to do a 1k mile round trip weekend something we would never be able to do in our old unit.
