It is a big step and easy to get nervous. You've made the decision for reasons only you know. Go forward and don't look back.
Batman--we are joining you in the "Fleetwood Owners" group. We purchased a 2012 Fleetwood Bounder 33C. We started out looking at the Tioga and you all know the rest of THAT story.

Good Luck

This is the current plan...camping at the dealership, at least overnight.

Sure, there'll be surprises. But, you've done your homework. Now, it's time to play and enjoy.

You only get to be a newbie once; in a strange way, we all kind of envy you.

My neighbor, a fellow airline pilot who also built his own aircraft, selected the Mirada as his first RV (I'm assuming you stuck with that choice), and loves it. He and the wife are always doing trips, they swear they never turn on the TV but instead stop in isolated locations and catch up on their reading.
Thanks! Actually, we never got to see the Mirada. We looked at Winnebago, Newmar, Tioga, Itasca...and bought a Fleetwood Bounder.

Thank you SO MUCH to each of you who wrote a response. I sincerely appreciate it and Lord knows, I need all the reassurance I can get. Now I need to go have a drink or something.

Buyers Remorse

My dad and his wife looked and looked for a used RV in the $30k range for months. They finally found one (private seller) about three hours away and gave the guy $500 to hold it and a promise to return that weekend with the balance. His wife could not sleep and was frought with extreme buyers remorse (they HAVE the money and it was only $28,000 for the RV). It got so bad that my dad called the guy and backed out of the deal and lost his $500.

Since then, I bought our first one and the only regret I have is not testing the shower. On our first trip, some part of the shower leaked in the far drivers side corner. I haven't had time to look into it it but it could be a huge problem or an easy fix. I lose a little sleep over it when I think about it. If I had known about the leak, I would have found a different rig.

We got our new 2011 5ver this past May and our first trip was the end of Sept. Best advice is RECORD your Pre-Delivery walk thru. I was taking very detailed notes and our tech was patiently explaining everything, answering our ?'s, but about an hour into it, I became so enthralled with our new unit, I quit taking notes. If we would have had the recording we could have just popped it in and watched. Just relax, you are going to have a ball. It is all a learning curve. We learn something every time we take ours out. We are getting real good at hitching and unhitching. Every evening we would sit and 'dream' about when we are able to full time. Enjoy it and have fun on your trips. Our first trip, the camp host was amused we were pulling hoses and filters out of their packaging. Don't worry if you don't know something, some one will and will help.

Thanks, Cindy! We don't plan to ever full time, but when my hubby retires in 3 years we will be making lots of road trips. I'm glad you are enjoying your new RV.

Buyer's remores, schmyer's remores.

I think you're just getting wound up over nothing. Because once you record your PDI (as many have suggested) and have a trip or two under your belt, you will discover a whole new world out there.

And then, you will kick yourself in the arse for waiting so long....

Sarah, if you have not found them yet here are some PDI check lists to check out your new MH.
They should cover just about everything and keep dealer on there toes.
Congrats and happy RVing.

E Z doz it ! Hopefully you have picked up your RV by now and your learning all about it. I have found that I have worried about an awful lot of things that didn't happen ! Sure something sometime isn't going to work right or not work at all, but that's with anything just adjust and overcome the situation and once you have some experiences you'll be grinning and having a good time just like the ads. This RVing life is a good life full of things to do and friends to make see ya on the road and wave back AH!
