New propane leak after tanks filled
I just had my two propane tanks filled after draining them nearly dry with the recent super-cold snap. When I reconnected them, there is a HUGE leak on both tanks right at the screw-in connection of the flexible hose connector along the hose where it goes into the "knob" to screw in. I do not see any cracks in the O-ring or assembly, dirt or debris in the threads, or any other obvious problem. Has anyone else had this? Could the cold have cracked both seals or hoses? Could the propane fill place have damaged the tanks? Hate to just buy new flexible hose assembly units if I'm missing something simpler.

I have never heard of an incident of cold weather damaging propane fittings. If it was not leaking before you took the tanks away, it seems strange that both would begin leaking in the same way and at the same time.

Remove the hoses and look and feel if there are any gouges in the seat, inside the hole.

The seals inside the connection have failed for whatever reason. Replace the pigtails and you'll be good. $20 each on Amazon.
The OPD won't allow the tanks to be overfilled.

The other thought I have is that valves should be all the way on or all the way off. In between you are relying on the packing around the valve stem and that can leak when the valve ages.

I would think the excess-flow device in the valve head would activate. Your explanation sounds like the hose was flexed in really cold weather and cracked.
