New rv tires 9 months old??.

Age of new tires excessive?? So im told that the 6 new tires im buying from discount tire are made in 26th week of 2018, making them approx 9 months old. Load E tires dont sell as fast as car tires, so those who have actually purchased RV tires for a rig, how old were they? 9 months seems a little long to me. What is your experiences?

What brand? 9 months is about the mqx I would consider. Have you priced GoodYear Endurance ST tires?

We ordered ours from Les Schwaab in Oregon (no sales tax) and we specified that they all had to match the date and had to be within a couple months of buying. They came through for us.

I agree that 9 months is about border line for new tire age. You could always ask for a newer set or a discount. Keep in mind that the tires have not been exposed to sunlight and UV elements so I would guess that 9 months in storage is equal to 4 1/2 months time mounted on a vehicle.

I bought Michelin tires through FMCA a while back. I specified that the tires must be no more than 3 months old. They came through for me!

I had them order the freshest possible and got three months out tires. I would not go for 9 months.

I guess i should have specified that before i ordered. Live and learn. The tires have 6yr 55,000 warranty and discount tire certificates no time limit just rubber down to 3/32 so i think ill be in good shape regardless. Thanks for all the advice.

The 6 yr clock begins at date on receipt; if you lose the receipt, clock begins at date on tire.

I just had 6 new Toyo tires installed a few weeks ago dated 50th week of 2018, about 3 months old. However the place I bought them (Tire's Warehouse in Fountain Valley CA) does a lot of work for a local MH retailer, so probably has fresher stock. That said, I wouldn't worry that much about the extra months. The tires were in storage, not exposed to UV or pressure. I'd start the clock the day they were installed.

I recently accepted 5 months old tires. I wouldn't worry to much about 9 months.

I tried that with a Les Schwab in Portland. They said I'd get what I got and their warehouse didn't have time to check. I went elsewhere.

Obviously younger is better, but sometimes the choice simply isn't available. Tires are made in batches by size and tire model and slow selling sizes or types might only get made once or twice a year. If the last batch of your size & model was made 6-9 months ago, all the bluster in the world isn't going to make the date any newer. All the tires of that size & model will be roughly the same old age. If a younger age is critical to your purchase, you may need to select a different tire maker or model of tire to get access to a different batch schedule.

6 months would be my limit. But all depends on the place you get them from.
