I was raised in a small midwest town where most of my relatives farmed, so I was indoctrinated at an early age to the world of doing everything yourself, which included repair work of all types and construction of many things, including the house I grew up in. The author of the article most likely didn't have that benefit, of learning how to do things for yourself and using common sense, which seems to be very common anymore. I feel sorry for people like that. My wife and I raised 3 boys and started tent camping when they were very young, graduated to a pop-up, then a bumper pull trailer. Through the years, like FL420, I also helped out with scouting and coaching, to aid in in their all-around education. It's easy to be judgemental, but I see many young parents today too busy to be involved in their kids lives. After our kids were grown, we got out of the RV lifestyle for 20 years, then decided to get back in and researched for a year and a half before buying our class A. I drove it home and parked it in our driveway for almost 2 months before taking it on the road, learning everything I could about every little thing that made it work. But that's just the way I was raised. Like I said, it's very easy to be judgemental, so I have to constantly remind myself that not everyone is as blessed as I have been. After 70 years on this earth, I can honestly say that I have lived "a wonderful life."
