Make no mistake, come Feb. 2009 there will be a fundamental change in the way TV's work. If you don't make a big deal about it a number of people will be left in the dark. Satellite TV and Cable subscribers will not be effected but anyone wanting to watch over-the-air TV programming (for whatever reason) MUST take some kind of action to ensure that this service will not be interrupted. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I think it's fatal. Most of the people that were around before there was tv aren't with us anymore.

Are the Canadian networks following the same schedule as the American ones. We already have sat at home and we have a dish for the MH so hopefully we will not be affected. Our last TV for the home was a HD TV so we will be able to access it.

I don't think the Canadian stations are switching over for another several years. To a point, as an RVer, yer best bet would be with one of the hybrid sets that is HD ready with the ATSC tuner, but also has the current Analog system.

Now, if there's anyone on the forum with a non-compatible LCD set with onboard DVD player that simply must throw it away because of the change, I'll happily take a donation for the KIT

Hey, I remember radio, and I am still around, at least I think I am. Well most of the time anyway.

Lux Radio Theater, Amos and Andy (one of the funniest shows ever. I was about 5-8 years old and had no clue they were black. It didn't make any difference at all), The Shadow, Grand ole Opry, Lone Ranger, Inner Sanctum (shiver) and on and on....

Oopsy, I stand corrected. I was going by when tv was first invented (1926) & miscalculated the age group.

I humbly beg forgiveness.

I gave up on the US and metric back in the 60's when a congresscritter said he couldn't support hte change BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO SET HIS CLOCK TO GMT! He actually thought that he would have to get up at 0500Z which was midnight his time. And I bet he got reelected!

Actually, the reason we haven't gone metric is because of a strong tool manufacturer's lobby. The tool guys want us to have to drag both the metric and SAE tools out when we work on a vehicle. Of course, if it's British, we have to drag out the Whitworth stuff as well.
