We use our MH to travel to and from car shows as I build and drive Street rods. Today I tried to make a reservation for the National street rod Association show in Knoxville TN at a camp ground just north of Knoxville. They had pull thru long enough for MH and trailer, had opening for dates needed so everything was fine until I mentioned we would be bringing show truck on trailer and was told, no trailers allowed. WHAT? I asked what the reason and got "it is from Corp. All right to bring car four down or dolly but no trailer. Has anyone run into this before? The trailer is not some run down piece of junk but a high buck all aluminum unit with alloy wheels and polished like chrome. She could give me no reason other than Corp.

There rules like it or not. I'm sure they have there reasons and might not make sense to most of use but they own it so they have the right.

She couldn't give you a reason because she doesn't know. If you want to pursue it further you should get in touch with "corp". I wouldn't expect much relief though. Like the previous poster said, their campground, their rules. Heck they can even say they don't allow yellow rigs.

I’d guess they don’t want to risk the chance of a group of street rod owners revving their engines in the campground, so they just said no to anyone with an enclosed trailer.

It would be interesting to know if they have the same restriction after the event.

My thought is they didn't want a site taken up by a MH, trailer and a car. They probably had occasions where the three exceeded the site length and they ended up blocking the road or parked on the grass.

I would contact corporate and inquire if this is indeed correct.
If so, find another campground and notify NSRA to not recommend said campground. As a gear head myself, I'd be happy to have you and about 50 more street rodders as our campground neighbors.

FWIW, I've towed a 24' equipment trailer with the DW's SUV on board throughout the SE, and never encountered a problem with a reservation.

Although there appears to be no rhyme or reason to some campground's rules, in this instance I'm gonna bet RVPioneer's guess is correct.

When we travel with our friends they tow an enclosed trailer with our two motorcycles. We have encountered a couple of RV parks that would not allow motorcycles on the premises even if they stayed in the trailer. I understand problems with noisy bikes but ours are whisper quiet Gold Wings. Their rule, their loss so we just booked elsewhere.

I've been to NSRA show hauling a trailer with one of my cars What I did a couple times at York is use the host hotel's massive parking lot, leave your trailer with the hoard of others doing the sane in the back row. At Burlington, did the same. Yes, a little inconvenient but in reality, probably even safer with so many others then a CG. Additionally at York, there is an almost abandoned mall across the road where others leave their trailers(at least 3 years ago it was virtually empty).

Look for a different campground.
Before I started towing four down, I trailered a car on a 20' car hauler.
The only problem I ever had was finding a place to drop the trailer if I had to. Pull through's were my choice so I didn't even have to unhook the trailer.
I never ran into a campground that would not allow trailers.

I usually tow a car trailer, and have never been denied entry although very infrequently I need to park the trailer elsewhere just to use the only available smaller site. The mention of "Corp." indicates multiple locations, maybe nationally. What is the campground name?

The only time I've encounter these type rules is when we had a toyhauler and a couple of parks did not allow them, even empty of "toys".

My guess is that a few ruined it for the many. Their park, their rules.

All you can do is move along and find a campground not so picky.

Some parks require all trailers and tow dollies to be placed in a storage area. Usually its parks that are mainly intended for longer term stays.
There are many parks that restrict the types of RV's that can stay there. It is their right to do so and you can choose to stay somewhere else.

Having worked several seasons as a camp host and assistant park manager, my experience is that motorhomes with trailers are sometimes a nuisance. Not always, but more likely to be. Potential problems range from trailer storage on or off site, damage from maneuvering a really long rig on inadequate roads, and extra complaints from other campers (blocked view, noise, etc). Corporate-operated campgrounds tend to react to a problem in one campground with broad rules that apply to all, whether needed there or at. Shotgun rather than rifle, as it were.

One park we worked solved their extra trailer problem by setting up a trailer parking area near the entrance and requiring that all trailers be parked there. No exceptions either, since everybody had a story about how their trailer wasn't a problem - it was always some other other guy. Conversely, another campground that had a dozen super-long pull-thrus near the main entrance welcomes big rigs with trailers, as long as one of those sites was available.
