No Vehicle Title
I bought an RV from Lazydays in Tucson, Arizona, in January. So far, they haven't been able to give my lender a title, so I can't register the RV in California where I live. They have a ton of excuses, but no title. Anybody have any advice here? I'm just getting the run around from Lazydays.

I'd approach the State's MVD and the Consumer Protection Division of the AGs Office and file compliants. I'd inform LazyDays of the impeding action and give them a few, very few, days to make good and then go after them.

In business I have found that a letter from my attorney usually gets great results. Nothing threatening, just a firm well written letter outlining the legal responsibilities of the other party and asking for action. No business owner wants to see a letter addressed to him from an attorney.

I'm surprised the lender isn't having a cow. What has your lender told you about the problem?

Best guess if it's new is that they lost the Manufacturers Certificate of Origin, without which, they can not get a title.

The lender is BofA and so far doesn't seem to care that they're not listed as a lien holder. I've talked to people at Lazydays, BofA and Ca DMV. Nothing. I guess legal action is the way to go from here.
Thank you all for your advice.

I was in the automobile business for 25+ years. Contact the Arizona department of motor vehicles immediately. They can shut a dealer down for not producing a title. All states have a time frame for a dealer to produce a title and it's usually a short time frame (10 days). In many states it's illegal to sell a vehicle without the title in hand. If it is a new vehicle and they lost the manufacturers statement of origin that is a simple process to replace.

For Arizona (origin) and California (destination) and some 15 other states...the old "Pink Slip" is becoming a thing of the past...replaced with ELT...see:
Electronic Liens and Titles Program
and
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/vr/eltp
Registration is available to the OP with the sales contract and a trip to the DMV...and your checkbook
The DMV will visually check the VIN, require a SMOG check if applicable, and charge sales tax for the county of registration - along with all the other fees
Don't let your AZ temp tag expire or the DMV will hit you for a fee on that too (out of registration vehicle).
Best luck

You need to get this resolved quickly. It could be a case that it was being sold on consignment, the owner is actually underwater on the coach and owes to his lienholder more than the sale, and since he doesn't have the additional money the original lienholder still owns the coach and isn't going to release the title.
You may have (and want) to force an undoing of the deal and get your money back. You certainly have a loss of use situation.

I seriously doubt if Lazydays is risking their multi-million dollar business by doing anything shady with the title, and there are multiple glitches that can delay things. They probably just need a good jab to elevate the priority of getting this resolved. I would advise them formally (in person and in writing) that you are reporting them to the AZ DMV and Attorney General if you don't receive the title in 3 days. Or whatever time you think is reasonable. Make notice to a manager or executive, not a sales person. As ggwilde says, failure to provide a vehicle title in a timely manner is serious business for a dealer.
You could offer the alternative of a full refund of your purchase price, but you have to be willing to give up the RV if they cannot deliver..

I suppose what I'd do depends on what "ton of excuses" actually means. Is it something they are working on and it's just going through the slow, lengthy process, or are they completely clueless about what to do about it and are just blowing you off.
I've never dealt with Lazydays but I find it hard to imagine that this is an issue that can be new to them. I had to do a title replacement for a "barn find" VW Bug some years ago, and while it was a pain in the caboose to resolve, and took some time, it was still a pretty straight forward process.
