Norcold 611 refer question on thermstator location temp
Ok its a 2013, started at like 68 degs inside, added a gallon of water and 6 beers, set temp to 3....highest is 5
On electric...checked 5 hrs later...freezer was 10 degs,,,fridge was 47....check again in a few hrs fridge still 47 middle shelf.
so do I
1) leave it longer
2) move thermisator ? its on the 10th fin from the right and Norcold said leave it there,,,wires are too short to move it anyway
3) turn the temp up to 5 max ?
4) chg the thermistor, I assume its working if the freezer is that cold ??
5) any ideas ??

'luberhill'
Same answer
Thermistor is on 10th fin because THAT is where is is suppose to be as determined by Norcold ----thermostat temp settings are based on that fin location !!!!
Enough of this 'moving' thermistor
Fridges that have temp setting adjustments the thermistor needs to be in OEM position
Fridges that have a PRESET thermostat setting ---those WITHOUT adjustable temp settings then moving the thermistor UP/DOWN....even side to side can make MINOR adjustments to overall temps
Freezer has to get to 10*F or lower BEFORE food compartment can cool effectively due to the 'cooling process'
Freezer FIRST in line of that process......food compartment LAST in line of that process
Turn fridge ON./electric or propane
Fridge reasonably level
WAIT 12 hrs or more for cooling process to occur.
Thermal Dynamics/Gravity Flow are a SLOW natural process vs forced circulation as in compressor units

If the RV is level I suspect that putting room temperature items inside before it was fully cold is part of the problem. It takes a long time for things to cool down. You might check your door gasket, too, as fairly small gaps can undo your best intentions.
The ammonia absorption systems can get really really cold but they're not especially good for quick chilling. I pre-cool my food and beverages at home before loading them into the reefer. Use ice to pre-cool on the road...
Leave it on another 8 hours or so and see if it gets colder.

ok thx
I set it at 5 that's the coldest setting...at setting 4 it was 40 in the fridge and zero in the freezer...this is after 8 hrs...ill recheck in the morning...im hoping its working correctly, I hate to have to replace it,,,so if its 32 or lower in the morning then its operating ok ?
And ill turn it to 4 ?
Any of you guys install the snip the tip thermostat ? 26.00 and allows you to adjust

I haven't found the need to install anything. I did buy a battery operated fridge fan but the jury is still out on that one as I didn't notice any appreciable gain in performance. As mentioned they take time to cool down. I usually fire mine up a couple days in advance and pre-chill things in the home fridge before moving them into the trailer. I leave it at the number 3 setting.

Snip-the-tip is a easy means of replacing an OEM Thermistor that has FAILED vs pulling wires from food compartment down to lower circuit board
IF OEM Thermistor is functioning WHY replace a part that is working as designed
Snip-the-tip uses the OEM wiring and just replaces the sensing end with a 'rheostat' that can alter the resistance.
Temp adjustments....yeah roughly 3*F-4*F change in overall temps
A little circulating fan blowing across the fins can achieve same results.
