Northwest

My wife & I recently retired & moved from S.California to Trinidad, CA (in N.California near Eureka). We purchased a 23' Airstream & now plan to travel the Northwest. I'm looking for suggestions/referrals on where to stay in 4 states (California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho).
Any info would help. Thanks, Mark*

I think you'll need to be more specific as to where you want to stay. That's a big area. There are many thousands of places you can stay. Ourselves... we love any kind of public park or boondocking on national forest lands.

When yo find a city you want to stay then use a site such as campgroundreviews.com and plug in that city and you'll find many choices. Have fun with your new RV!

Welcome, we live in McKinleyville. We travel the Oregon coast quite often, Turtle Rock in Gold Beach is good for a quick weekend trip.

As others have said, that's a pretty big request. I'll start a suggestion. Washington state. Spend some time in the northern part. Okanogin county is awesome. Visit Chesaw their is a very nice state campground 10 miles east of Chesaw, it's a great place to stay and do some day trips.(Don't forget to have a buffalo burger only one restaurant in town) Lot's of ghost towns in the area. Molsun Wa. has a great Museum especially if you like old machinery, they have an entire town as it was in the late 1800's
a few month's ago we spent some time on the western side of Idaho, Hwy 95 from Leweston south is beautiful with lots of free boondocking sites along the Salmon river. That's not much but it's something. Have fun.

Oh If you like fishing, get a hold of "Eureka Mark" on the "SCRIMSHAW" in Eureka, He can take you out for Pacific Halibut fishing. Nothing funner then reeling in one of these over 300 feet deep.

Went to Turtle Rock 5 years ago. Nice campground. They have hot tubs on each site. Just be sure too ask in advance. Clean the hot tub. Ours was green...they weren't very receptive of me asking for a slight refund...just a sorry...

Thank you for your insight . .
I guess what I'm seeking are 'possible itineraries' which would include these 4 states . .

either via personsl experiences or through possible books on the subject

my timeframe as far as which times of year to travel, is very flexible; I'm retired and can adjust accordingly

and the information I'm seeking can apply to just one state or all four

I'm 63 & can imagine traveling the northwest for the next 10 to 15 years

Any info with help. Thanks, Mark

Some of our favorite parks in Washington are: Pacific Beach State Park in Pacific Beach, Columbia Sun RV Resort in Kennewick, Columbia Riverfront RV Park in Woodland, Fort Flaggler State Park on Marroswtone Island near Port Townsend, and Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend.

Happy trails,

As a resident of the PNW since 1991 and full timing now since 2014, I’d be very cognizant of the weather. Can be wet, wild, cold and windy west of the Cascades and damn cold and snowy in the Cascades and points east. Most of the Oregon and Washington Coast has nearly 100” of rain a year with strong winds possible. Storm watching is for the hearty.

We head south in October and do not return til late May at the earliest. It is beautiful but being stuck inside an RV for days on end due to inclement. weather can literally drive you mad!!

All the best!
