Not so GOOD, GOOD SAM CLUB ?

Is it just me or has anyone else notice that the campgrounds that once offered the club discounts are becoming fewer and far between

I've noticed just the opposite. I'd say at least 90%, if not more, of the places we've stayed for the last 2 months have been GS.

Every campground I've stayed at in the last few years has honored it.
I have heard that some higher end resorts don't.

I have found a lot of CGs that will honor GS members. Some of the high end resorts, as pointed out, do not offer the discount. So I guess it's a question of where you are staying.

We don't usually ask for a specific discount. We ask what discounts they have. Almost all the time they will just go ahead and "find" one and give it to us, lol. If they happen to say they don't have any then we ask "What about military/veteran?" They seem to have that one if none others. Only one campground did we find that offered no discounts. Considering they were cheaper than all the others in the area even with discounts and very clean we were happy to take a spot with no discount.

Good Sam says there are over 2100 parks in their program, so maybe you need to look around more.

If we are traveling, we find PPA to have way more bang for the buck.

I find it insane that if I search an item on the Good Sam/Camping World site later in the day I will receive and email regarding a sale price on that item.

Yesterday I was looking at a hitch carrier and an hour later I received an email with that exact carrier NOW ON SALE!

If you've ever watched that TV show 'The Profit' you'll see that Marcus Lemonis is a marketing genius.

You mean those inflated non-member prices on Camping World store shelves are bogus? I am so disappointed.....

I think as there are more and more folks using private campgrounds, because it's getting harder to get into state parks w/o long advance reservations, that you may see less and less discounts being given. There are also a lot more folks going full time and spending more time off the road as long term stays in the nicer cgs.
What really gets me is when my favorite private cg in Oceanside Ca is less in the off season than San Elijo state park right down the road and the facilities are nicer.. In fact I think it's also cheaper than Carlsbad Beach SP and that one doesn't have all sites with full hookups and larger sizes.
I have stayed a a couple of campgrounds that didn't offer discounts, but they were also between $25-30 a nite and well worth it.
