Obama to Yellowstone

Stay clear of Y on August 14th /15th to aviod a likely mess.

WASHINGTON (AP) The White House is announcing that the first family will travel to national parks in the West next week.

President Barack Obama and his family will visit Bozeman, Mont., Yellowstone National Park, Grand Junction, Colo., the Grand Canyon and Phoenix.

Spokesman Robert Gibbs says the trip is meant to encourage people to visit the national park system, and it will occur during a "fee-free" weekend for national parks. And, he said Obama also will promote his policies during the trip.

The president also is expected to hold town hall style meetings at some of the places as he pushes Congress to pass an overhaul of the health care system. While on his Western swing, Obama is to address the convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, being held in Phoenix. It's a summertime tradition for presidents.

This means a huge crowd in those places, but his family deserves/has the same rights to see our great Nation as the rest of us.

Remember one of the Community Rules is "Be nice!". Let's not turn this into a political roast.

I agree but he's not coming as Harry Truman did when he used to drive himself and his wife between his home in MO and DC as a normal traveling couple. He, as all recent Presidents, travel as royality blocking roads for miles for no good reason and travel with large staffs as well as security.

In addition, He (his staff) picked the ususal last weekend visit for parents with children before school starts, the free weekend which means heavier than normal crowds and his large staff and security, Park Rangers, WY and MT State Police, County Sheriffs combined with road construction will make for a couple of unpleasent days for visitors.

So, stay away on Saturday is my advise.

Despite the advice to stay away, the crowds, I expect, will be larger than ever at Yellowstone during the President's visit. That's pretty much the case wherever he travels. I don't expect anyone, because of security concerns, will actually get too close though.

You're absolutely right - it's not a political forum since political discussions are verboten on iRV2.

The OP's message related to President Obama's visit to Yellowstone has been communicated. Since we're veering off into political labeling and not playing nicely in the sandbox, I'm going to lock this one down before it deteriorates any farther than it already has.
