Observing RV's - fading!

On my drive heading to Newmar I noticed one thing in common. Fading. Granted, probably older coaches of various brands and may not be a good sample but it seems to be trend. Cars are in the sun the same and don't fade like this. Maybe at some point vendors didn't clear coat or use quality paint? Owners not maintaining or waxing? Makes me wonder if I should seek a cover someday while in storage.

Rv's are more like boats than cars when it comes to sun fade. I have used 303 on my RV since it was new and it looks nearly as good as it's did 15 years ago. It acts like a sunscreen for your finish. I apply it about every 6 months. Spray on and wipe dry.

Our 2005 motorhome has full body paint and has been stored inside since new, still looks new to me (but never clean enough). Weather is death to RV's; store inside or under cover!

Auto finishes are heavily researched, and tested for UV resistance. They are also clear coated. In addition, many cars are garaged, waxed in an hour or two, etc. An RV often sits out, parked with the same side exposed to sun and weather. Many RVs also extensively use vinyl decals, that aren't well suited to long exposure.

Comparing an RV finish to an auto isn't fair. A cover might extend the life of the finish, but could also suffer abrasion from a cover's movement over time.
