Off season: no water, but can I use sewer hookups?
Silly question, I know, but during the off season (when water is shut off at the sites), can I still use the sewer hookup at that site? New at off-season camping.
Thanks.

Hello and Welcome Here !
Yes you can, assuming you will have the fresh water tank filled.......

Thank you so much. Yes, we will fill the water tanks with fresh water. Glad to know we can use the sewer hookups. That will make it so much better! :-)

I would ask an employee of the campground. If it is cold enough to turn the water off, they may have other services turned off or at least scaled back. Especially if they have their own onsite sewage treatment. Remember to keep your dump valves closed, unless dumping. A slow trickle in freezing temps can clog the stinky slinky. All the best.

Which campgrounds are you planning on using?
Like mentioned, if water OFF.....what else is non-functioning
Consult with staff. Best to always inquire.

Follow-up: We went to Cuivre River State Park in Missouri. It was wonderful and we had the whole RV section to ourselves on the last day. Before that, there were not more than 2 other trailers there.
We did not have water hookups due to the off-season shutoffs, but we had sewer hook-up and 50 amp service. We had enough water in our tank at the end of the trip to help us flush out the system. We hooked up to the sewer at the end of our stay, emptied out the black, then flushed the toilet until all of the water was out of the fresh water tank, emptied the black again, then flushed the gray water tank. It seemed to do the trick!
We learned a lot about conserving water since we didn't want to run out on this trip. We were also very careful to wash our dishes in a dish pan so any food particles that may have come off the dishes didn't go down the kitchen sink and into the gray tank. We flushed the dish pan water when someone needed to go #2, helping with the flush itself and then any dish pan food particles would go in the black tank.
Thanks, folks, for the quick replies the other day when I originally posted.

How cold will it get over night? The water held at the shutoff could freeze and damage your sewer system. Maybe leave it open overnight if its really cold.

Off season: no water, but can I use sewer hookups?
We stayed at a campground in the off season . When we made our reservation they told us we would have sewer and electric at our site but the water would be off. They told us that when we arrived we could fill our fresh water tank at the main office . This was nice since we didn't have to travel lugging a full tank of water. So call ahead.

We stayed at a campground in Carlisle PA one Christmas and during the day it got above freezing we could turn on the water to fill our tank but had to turn off the water and drain the lines at night. The water shutoff was one of those long stem ones that shut off underground and drained the above ground portion. We disconnected and drained our water hose nightly. We did hook up to the sewer and mid-week drained the tanks. We left the hose outside and a little bit of the gray water that didn't totally drain from the hose froze in the sewer hose. Didn't do damage but could have. Snowed that week also. Sometimes it is not the temperature above ground that really matters it is how far down will the ground freeze. Winter camping is very doable and usually very peaceful but the bottom line is what does the campground allow or want you to do.
