Oh,oh

14 ft. Carefree power awning, as it extends the support arms cross each other, ( that how it works ) ok, on each side there are gas supports, on a windy day one side wants to fold up, due to wind, ( it's always the same side.) My question is could it be the one gas support that my have lost it charge? They look to be riveted on the arm. Can they be replaced? I could drill it out to remove. So we always retract awning if we are leaving. But as you know then the sun can heat RV up in temp.

Most people retract the awning during windy weather, at night, or when they leave the RV. Seeing a few destroyed awnings will drive this home to you. You can get some awning stabilizers that are supposed to reduce their susceptibility to wind. I have no idea if these work or can be trusted.

We have a Traveler Power awning on our Road Warrior. We leave the main awning out even when we are gone and in windy conditions. We use a zipper sun blocker and tie it down in the 3 spots. The sun blocker does a great job in helping to secure the awning.

Some power awnings are built such that if the awning fills up with water (like during a rain storm) then they automatically dump the water off one side.

While in Miami for 3 months, I saw that many folks hung full 1 gallon water jugs to the corners of their awnings. I guess that kept them from blowing up in the wind.

Others just staked them to the ground or staked down the add on sun block panels.

I have the same awning as you and if the gas spring was bad, it wouldn't roll out.
Part of the springs job is to dump accumulated rain water off one side if you don't have it tilted.

Carefree makes several modes of powered awnings. Could you tell us which one you have so we could answer more accurately? I think you might be tlking aout the Paramount or Mirage models, but its not clear.
