Heat gun with plastic scrapers. Xylene for the residue as it will not hurt paint.

I have used "plastic Razor Blades" (you can find them at many home improvement stores or Amazon) along with a heat gun if needed. I would hold off the cold beer until you are off of the roof. ~CA

I'd suggest a medium-wattage hair dryer rather than a heat gun. Those guns are really hot and put out a focused hot air stream, so the chance of melting rubber or plastic is great. A hair dryer of the same wattage is usually more diffused (to avoid burning hair or scalp).

I've got an 1800 watt heat gun that puts out a lot hotter stream than our 2000W hair dryer.

Another vote for patience. It's a boring, slogging job, but if you hurry you can put a healthy tear or cut into your roof membrane.

Heat gun on rubber roof is a disaster waiting to happen.

also, check with the mfg of the new skylight, mine "required" their sealant, not DICOR, for warranty purposes which was fine since theirs was actually less expensive than the DICOR

Just did this an hour ago. Regular razor blade and denatured alcohol worked great... I fixed about a dozen cracks around screw holes with harborfreights plastic welder... that also worked great...

Just replaced my black tank vent. I'll used was my fingers. I bought plastic putty knives, but found I could use my fingers better. I can see little heat might help set it in the sun before you start on it. A little mineral spirits for final cleaning before new coat.

Most will peel of by just using your fingers and care to make sure that you don't tear the roofing. A plastic putty knife with the corners rounded off will also help getting it started. I favor beer as an aid but not at 12 or so feet off the ground. The possible fall from the roof wont hurt but the sudden stop on your driveway might.
