I would leave it out but that's me.
With two hoses you could run it into a compartment or underneath, out of site.

If by "jacked" you mean stolen, I've never had anything stolen from a site in 20 years.
If "jacked" means something else then I have no idea.

IF thieves are out and about stealing items during the daytime inside the CG up among other RVrs.........
I'm pretty sure my neck hairs would have been standing straight up WHEN we pulled in..and we would have left.
50A detachable power cord with portable surge protector, Watts adjustable water pressure reg, Faulkner Zero-Gravity Chairs, Weber BBQ etc........ALL left out day/night from time we set up until time we pack up.
In all my years camping the only thing every stolen was a some beer in a cooler.
Pretty sure more theft occurs in Storage Places vs CGs
AS for leaving reg/hose connected......not since 2008 when trailer got flooded while we were sleeping and a bad fitting on water heater outlet line let go.
Now we use on-board pump exclusively...refilling fresh water tank as needed
Simple flip of switch and pump is off when we go to bed or leave RV.
(Bet you leave your hose ON...)

The only time we've lost one was due to my own fault: getting ready to leave one day and unhooked the hose - got interrupted and then rolled up the hose, put it away and finished up securing everything and hit the road. Got to our next stop and realized I never took the regulator off the spigot! Didn't want to drive all the way back to the previous spot so just decided to fine myself the cost of a replacement...Now I leave the regulator attached to the hose instead of separating them for storage.

I have the same one. Been using it for 3 years, it's never been stolen.

I turn the water off when leaving so I don't come back to a water feature in my trailer but I leave the regulator attached.

I do the same thing. Over my RV lifetime, I have seen that occur three times (no to me though).

I have a 3' hose connected to the coach. Then the gauge/ regulator. This section stays connected in the coach.
A quick connect to the long hose. Keeps the regulator inside and easy to connect up.
