Outdoor light

I always forget to put on the outside light, so I did this instead. Now I can see to unlock the door.

Got a solar light at home depot cut the stem and plastic spike. Had a piece of plastic electrical conduit and cut the collar off. Drilled a large and small hole in it to accept the screw for the handle. Painted it with black bumper paint and it's done. Now I just have to modify my checklist so I will remember to remove the light when I'm leaving.

So does it charge up with the awning deployed or do you move it to where the sun can get to it?

that is awesome! on the down side, thanks a lot for adding another TO DO to the list before the end of september... I STILL HAVE TO PUT MY BEDROOM TOGETHER AND FLOOR IN!

I'd say that idea gives alot of bang for your buck! Looks easy to do and inexpensive too! Great idea!

I forgot to say I put in 4 small washers to take up the gap of the recessed handle and the lamp holder.

An alternative is to install a porch lite with a motion detector. Here are some possibilities:
