Passport America from Camping World

Has anyone bought their PA membership from CW? It's a deep discount ($5 off plus free shipping, amounts to $10 savings!) but it warns that you must allow 4-6 weeks for delivery due to it being a Dierct Ship item Is this true?

Does it actually take 4-6 weeks or is that just a generic warning from CW due to it being a Direct Ship item? Sounds like it might be better for me to buy directly from PA since I need it in 4 weeks or less.

As Family Motor Coach Association members you get a discount from PA and extra months. How many depends on the number of years you sign up.

I have never waited more than 2 weeks for delivery. Might be longer if they are doing a new book.

They put out the new book in January the PA site says, so that shouldn't be a problem. I guess I'll bite the bullet and try ordering from CW. The shipping time shows 5-7 biz days. I think the 4-6 weeks thing is a generic warning for drop ship items.

When I ordered a holding tank (not from CW), it was a direct-ship order type thing. They custom make the tanks upon ordering instead of making them and housing them in warehouses for who knows how long. It came in 2 weeks or less.

I went ahead and ordered it. Hopefully it'll be no more than a 2-3 weeks. I'll post back about it when I get it.

CW told me the same thing, I called Passport America directly - after talking to the operator/membership person and telling her what CW offered she matched it. I was traveling so she emailed my membership information including a letter to camp ground owners introducing me as a new member. I used the discount that very night. And five more nights the following week while traveling.

Saved the cost by the second night - great deal.

I too phone PPA directly, told the operator about the CW offer, got it immediately-no question. My book of CG's arrived in a week, but like Joe, they gave me my membership # immediately, which is all the CG needs to process the discount. We saved the annual membership fee the first week we were traveling. Each CG is different, call ahead for their rules.

With use of PA for two to 3 nights at most resorts gets a return on your investment. AS for the book, it changes so frequently that it is better to go to the PA web site and look at campgrounds using their on-line information. Works for us and less weight to carry.

Do the yearly memberships run from January to December? In my next couple of trips (November & May) some of the CG's are PA ones. But only one of them will be used this year and would not make up the cost of the membership for this year.

Mine was purchased in may and expires one year from that date.

I just renewed at $34 and decided to forgo the book, saving me $7 in shipping costs. I installed the iphone and ipad apps, which work just great, and they're free. The book is ok for those without a smart phone or computer/internet, but the campgrounds come and go on a frequent basis and the apps reflect that, whereas the books rapidly become outdated.
I figure two PA stops will just about pay for this year's membership. Good deal.
