Penetrol Proof God Must Own A Older Motorhome

A friend of mine who works for a boat dealer turned me on to this stuff a few years ago. I buy a 2000-2010 motorhome at the beginning of every summer to use for the season then sell it for profit when I'm done with it. Well almost every 20 year old motorhome has seen better days on the outside and this stuff just makes them look like new again. I clean every inch of the outside with magic erasers and then apply a couple coats of this stuff and they look like new. Stuff lasts too, I did my toyhauler 4 years ago and it still looks as good as it did when I first put it on. It is a lot of work but less than half of buffing one out and lasts way, way longer, $15 bucks at Lowes, and you just wipe it on.

Are you talking “Penetrol Exterior Paint Conditioner”? If not, please confirm.

You use it on oxidized fiberglass?

I've seen it used on exterior plastic trim on vehicles. It has linseed oil in the mixture. It is recommended for faded fiberglass as well. I use 303 for that purpose.

I once used Zep on our previous trailer, and regretted it a year later when it started to peel off. What a hassle to remove it!

Yes it is Floor Penetrol. I used to buff them out but will never do that again. It is amazing what it does. It is like a clear coat on paint. I do the window trims and the painted cover for the water heater. Will post some pictures later. The best thing about it is you only have to do it once, no need to reapply every couple of months. Keeps the decals from fading.

Wow! That was is really nice!

And I hate to be a naysayer - but has anyone else can see this, done this? Is there or what is the downside, short or long term?

Really need to do this to ours, but dont want to do something that I will regret having done later (like many have done with floor wax).

Is this what you used? This states it's added to paint; not an after market.

I used it on a boat years ago, It yellowed badly in the second year. Held its gloss not bad but I would use Zep again if I needed it. The Zep lasted 4 years before I top coated it. The trick is to really clean the unit first. Don't know how you would remove Penetrol, I sold the boat.

Yes it is the Floor penetrol, just make sure to get the oil based one. I did my toyhauler 4 years ago and it still looks like the day I did it, hasn't yellowed, but even if it did some it would still look better than it did. Also seals your graphics so they stop fading and cracking. I know the boat shop my friend works at does it quite a bit. This is probably the 4th Rv I've used it on. The way I look at it is a shiney rv looks a lot better than a flat white chalky one, what is there to loose? If you have a newer one that looks good I wouldn't bother but I don't see many 20 year old rv's that shine anymore. Like I said I scrub every inch with magic erasers before putting it on. I would practice on the bottom somewhere, There is a art to getting enough on to get a glossy shine and not too much that it runs. I have tried different ways to put it on but for me just a rag works best. I've seen people use rollers or sponges, I tried those but didn't get the same results I get with a rag. Another trick is to do it in sections and start the next section before the previous one gets too dry, that way you can blend them together. Once you start you need to move fast to get the best results. There are a few video's of people using it on Youtube.

How many of you using this stuff are washing the rig once in a while with soap and water. Does it stay on? Do you wax over it?

I wash my trailer/rv every time I use it, which is almost every weekend in the summer and quite a few in the winter. I've never applied wax after putting it on. The shine stays all by itself. It is like a protective hard film, doesn't soak into the gelcoat and is tough. I don't have a place inside for my bigger stuff so if they are going to sit for more than a couple of weeks in the winter they stay outside with a cover. It's only $15 a quart at Lowes, I used about 2/3 of a quart on the 24 foot class c I just bought but I've learned to put the first coat on as thick as you possibly can and then leave it.

If I wasn't sure I'd just spend the $15 and do a basement door and leave it for awhile and see what I thought. I saw what it did in person before I ever used it. I was so impressed I just had to try it. Haven't buffed one since.

I'll be pulling the cover on my toyhauler this weekend and take some pics of it.

Perhaps you mean the Flood Penetrol?? I can't locate anything about Floor Penetrol...

Thanks!
