Perry 2014 FMCA Rally

We got hit by the Great March Blizzard of 2014 here in Rochester NY this past week, and were unable to escape in a timely manner to make the FMCA rally in Perry, Ga. due to the weather; the rally starts today. For us, we cancelled our trip .

We have had several calls from some of our friends there, Petro, David K, and apparently Perry has been getting some rain, and part of the areas are flooded (no surprise to we who have attended rally's at Perry in the past).

They are currently parking people on the pavement, waiting for the rains to pass, and dry out. Luckily, it does dry quickly, as the grounds drains well.

I am also subscribed to FMCA's Perry text messaging, and they've suspended 2 of the tram lines in order to get coaches parked tonight.

Here in Rochester today, it's beautiful and sunny, but only 20F as a high temperature. I'd rather be in all the mud at Perry with our friends .

I'm on the parking crew at Perry working the 30 amp electric lots K/L that we were forced to suspend parking on.
We appreciate everyone's patience today as we had to loop the L lots. We couldn't take you into the wet lots because we didn't want you stuck. Additionally keeping the Georgia mud un rutted will allow us to use it in the morning.

Thanks again for you patience!!!!

Sorry to hear about you missing the event. This is our first FMCA rally and I am seriously impressed with the organization. We chose to stay about 20 min south of Perry at an rpi park. We will just have to manage through the liquid sunshine!

Rally has been great and weather getting better. Friday departures should be no problem. FMCA staff and volunteers have done a wonderful job putting this rally together. DW and I are already looking forward to WI rally next summer. We must skip the Redmond rally.

Would you mind telling us what your best experience of the convention was? A lot of people just spend their time badmouthing FMCA and have never been so if you could give a brief synopsis, it would be great

It is the entire rally package that is the experience for me. Seminars for about any rv topic. I've enjoyed seminars Alaska and New Foundland trips on your own, generator maintenance, insurance, coach electrical, etc. I am guessing they have more than fifty seminars.

Organized for entry and parking. Tram service has been good. Several socials have been fun and we have met many wonderful people. We have heard no one complain about anything. Entertainment has been enjoyable. Daily trash pickup at your coach. People present have arrived in class B's through highest level of class A, and parked side by side.

If I must pick a best experience it would be meeting the people and sharing a common lifestyle.

Seems every vendor is present with show specials.

Could say more but got to head to seminar 3 building for morning coffee, Krispy Kreme donuts and met someone else that's having fun.

X2 on osok's summary. In my professional life I have been part of many conferences both as an attendee and in development, this event ranks up there with the best as far as organization (both parking and events), content, exhibitors and availability of expertise. There has been some absolutely great information shared. The social activities are low key but fun.

This was my first FMCA rally and my wife and I had an absolutely great time (weather aside).

We have particularly enjoyed this rally because we joined a a chapter of FMCA, met our new friends at a pre-rally and then traveled and parked together in Perry. This made a huge difference from the last FMCA rally because we had people to share with every evening instead of just meeting people in passing.

Most of the seminars were well presented. Many of the manufacturers came well prepared to service their customers. We had five different reps come to the coach to do repairs, installations and estimates.

It was time well spent at a reasonable cost.

Thanks for the great comments. Usually the only thing you hear is the bad.

All,
I believe I read that the Texas Tenors will be entertaining. Do not miss seeing this fabulous group. I love their version of "Unchained Melody". ENJOY.
We were hoping to make it to Perry but decided not to because of the distance from Portland, Oregon.

Texas Tenors performed Wednesday night and were good. Miss Sarah Getto performed Thursday night to close the show. All entertainment was good but for me Sarah ran away with top honors. This young lady is special. Plus she is an FMCA member and attended the Rally.

This was our first FMCA Rally. We got in on Saturday and set up before the rain started. As Osok said, the whole experience was great. Only used the trams once, the rest of the time we went everywhere on our bicycles. I learned a lot in the various seminars. We thought the entertainment was very high quality. The Texas Tenors were outstanding. Lots of vendors. Spent lots of money. They had over 400 coaches for sale by dealers. Didn't buy a coach though. Got the RV weighed. Overall we had a great time. I am looking forward to my next Rally.
