Please help...power issue

two week old trailer...Starcraft Autumn Ridge 26BH...has been sitting in my driveway unplugged for two weeks and lights and power jack have been operational. On Sunday I went to move it to a storage unit, used the power jack to lower the trailer on to my hitch, then the jack stopped working. It raised all the way up and I'm wondering if I raised it too far and this caused something to shut the power off (fuse? breaker? although I checked the breakers and nothing looks flipped). I thought maybe it was a dead battery so I plugged the camper in for over 24 hours and nothing changed. When the camper is plugged in the lights and power jack work fine. Also, when they trailer is plugged in to my two vehicle nothing works...no interior lights...no jack. Shouldn't those run off of my tow vehicle when they are connected? Dealer thought it was battery and gave me a new one...but that didn't do anything, and wouldn't explain the two vehicle not powering things.

Any thoughts or advice on things I can check are appreciated. If there's an easy fix I can figure out without having to tow this thing back to the dealership that would be awesome. If you have advice, please say it like I'm an idiot because when it comes to mechanical/electrical things I pretty much am.

Thanks in advance!

the battery is securely attached...old one was and was given a new one today that I attached. I checked the fuse right below the top of the jack (located in the wire itself) and it appears fine.

Hate to say it but with a two week old trailer have you contacted your dealer about this issue? You paid good money to them for this rig so I would expect stellar service in the first two weeks!

There are two places to look. 1 being the 2 40 amp reverse polarity fuses on the converter. The 2nd bring an inline fuse/breaker within 6' of the battery.

Yes, I have. And they are planning on looking at it later this week. But if it's something I can take care of without hooking up my trailer and pulling it 20 miles I'd rather do that. I'm all for them fixing it...but I'm also all for keeping things easy if possible.

If the jack and lights work with the shore power plugged in, the converter is working, powering the items.

I would follow the positive wire from the battery. It should lead to a fuse or breaker, not to far from the battery. The do that for safety from short circuits in the wire that runs to the fuse box.

You may find that the cord from the tow vehicle also goes to that fuse. Your car is charging the battery but its not getting to the trailer wiring.

Problem solved. I started following the wires back and found a fuse under the tongue next to a thing with two posts coming from it (circuit breaker of some sort?). There was a fuse blown right there.

Thanks!!! I knew it had to be an easy fix!

Glad you got it fixed and THANKS for coming back and telling us what you found.....your finding the fuse may help a dozen other posters with a similar issue.

"twinboat" is a great source for troubleshooting issues.

I have a Starcraft with the same jack probably. Went thru the same situation.

Mark a line on the jack leg to remind you not to go too far. Mine has a little label on it right now and I imagine it won't stay on it forever, so I'll be painting a line.

You can replace the regular fuse with a breaker you can reset. Like what is on a plug strip. Just get one that is rated the same as your fuse. That way next time, you won't be stuck somewhere and not able to raise or lower the foot.

There is a rubber plug in the top. You can pluck that out and hopefully you have the crank handle to manually operate it. If not, get the model number from your specific jack and order one.

This is just one example.
