I have the 15k BTU model Everstar and I believe I paid $399 for it. Sure does the job in my office.

I have the same issue in my TH. The best we've been able to do so far (outside of buying an a/c) is, a rotating fan in garage w/ the main a/c panel vents (the panel mounted on the ceiling) closed except the rear vent. The kids haven't complained yet.
