Powderpost beetles

WARNING!!!! My 2018 Jayco travel trailer built in October was just found to be infested with powderpost beetles. If you purchased a 2018 Jayco that was on the line in early to mid October you should be looking for the following signs. Light colored dust that feels like talcum powder. If you find the dust, look directly above it for tiny pinholes the size of the top of a ballpoint pen. These beetles take a minimum of a year to hatch and come from the building materials. Please spread the word!!

I hope Jayco stands up and assumes responsibility.

They will probably tell him that it is an add-on option to keep down the weight, but since he didn't order it then he got a free upgrade.

It seems like the wood used would have been kiln dried commercially, which should have killed any insect/eggs. I would guess the RV was infected after build.

No, they definitely build units with the beetles in the wood. Lots of previous posts about the beetles in brand new trailers.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I sure hope Jayco will step up and own this problem! They should give you a new RV!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Sorry to hear this. I'm going through same thing with my 2018 Forest River hemisphere. Husband said he was missing his jayco ...sounds like issue isn't isolated. I think the industry has boomed and they don't wait for the wood to be dried completely. Push for new RV...we are.
