Power step

My RV power step just wants to work part time, I had it connected to a 110 shore line after over night it would work one time , so I thought it was low batteries but now I am connected to 50 amp service but it still don't work! Does it take awhile to charge with 50amps?

I depends your charger and battery pack and how dead they are. Kiwikee has a good trouble shooting web site.

If you are plugged to shore power, you should have plenty of 12v power instantly available, even though the batteries may not have re-charged yet. Your converter/charger provides it right away.

If this a new problem, or has it done this since you got it? Are you aware there is a switch by the door that controls step operation, in conjunction with a magnetic switch on the door itself? And probably an interlock with the ignition key as well?

Two issues that may be responsible:
1. Have the pivot points on the steps been lubricated, do the steps move freely when not engaged to the drive?
2. Had a similar problem (intermittent, gradually getting worse), turned out to be the motor. Fairly simply fix replacing with an Amazon special.

My 2 cents, good luck!

It sounds like a case of lack of preventative maintenance on the step hinge points. Squirt a little lube (not WD-40, but an oil or better a dry film lube so it does not attract dirt) on the hinge points and then after a short period for the lube to soak in, operate the steps up and down several times. It should loosen up.
