I have used their store on many occasions. Very good prices, salespeople that know what they're talking about, and fast delivery. If you have to make a return, easy as pie.

I have purchased quite a few large items from them over the years and have had excellent service from them. For instance I bought a Demco Dolly from them and had it drop shipped to our home in Minnesota. Great price and delivered quickly.

I will deal with them any day over Camping World.

I thought I replied to this already, but don't see my reply now, so here goes:

I have bought accessories from PPL, and have spent part of a way I had free in Houston wondering their lot a couple of years ago. Overall I think they are great for larger accessory items, I bought a Dometic 320 toilet from them last year, but can be very high on small parts, like water heater thermostats, etc. As to the sales staff, everyone seems friendly, low pressure sales, but once you get on their mailing list, expect sales flyers, etc every week or so in your mail. My one big disappointment was the quality of SO MANY of the coaches on their lot, the web page may describe them as GOOD CONDITION, but they are not what I would consider good condition with cracking fiberglass, broken entry steps and grab handles, rips in the upholstery, and that is just the stuff that is visible in the first 10 seconds.

I have purchased air conditioners from them for my previous and current MH. Great price and service .
When we was looking to buy a new unit we walked 2 of their lots and was very disappointed in the sales force knowledge or willingness to answer questions. Basically all of their units were on consignment and it was up to me to find any issues. Salesforce basically pushed the paperwork through. We didn't buy from them.

I bought 3 rigs from them over the years, sold all 3 back thru them, sometimes at good resale prices.

The Houston lot has the best selection & all conditions from OK to to excellent. The lot in New Braunfels is so packed it's hard to shop.

You can negotiate prices with them/sellers & they offer pre-purchase inspection services.

Bought an extended warranty thru them, got my moneys worth & no hassles getting repairs.

Howdy!

We used them to sell our 5er on consignment. Dropped it off and it sold in a few weeks. We are fulltimers and they deposited the money in our account the next day. The folks that purchased it came from out of state to do so. I would use them again. I’ve also purchased parts from them including two AC units last year.

We sold our travel; trailer through them. It sold within a couple of weeks. We also bought our motor home from them. Getting the motor home was not that good of experience. We made a trip to pick it up and when we got there it was not ready. We ended up spending the night in a motel and driving back home the next day. We paid them for an inspection-don't do that-get an independent inspection.

Recently I took it to them to get an estimate for hail damage repair. They wanted to charge me two hours labor for an estimate. I ended up taking it to another shop.

Over the years we have used them for parts and they are good to work with and have fair prices. We still use them for some items.

Exclamation PPL - Never Again

As with any consignment dealer it is great as a seller if you do not want to entertain buyers directly before or after the sale. They charge 10% with a minimum charge for smaller RVs. I live near PPL and have been there often. Their idea of letting anyone wander through all the RVs is good and bad. During rainy days many of the RVs were a mess from traffic of buyers. I saw many knobs and such broke from likely people who do not know how RV mechanisms work. So I would not use them to sell unless I was trying to unload something I would not want traced back to me. Now as a buyer, let me share my personal experience. I found a trailer on their lot and submitted an offer that was accepted, wrote the $500 earnest check and signed the docs with my final amount due at close. Their doc fee of $150 was max allowed in TX. Some of the other fees toward registration were nickel dime, but added up to $276 total (not counting tax and state registration fees). About 3 days later I call to set up an appt for closing. Later that afternoon I get a call from the business manager telling me that the sale could not go through because the seller could not come up with the money needed to clear the loan on the RV. I get a sincere sorry with no consideration for the inconvenience or emotional trauma caused within my family. Are you kidding me. In retrospect a simple we would like to compensate you with a discount on a future purchase and/or a free ($399) RV out the door inspection would have been appropriate at the least. To add insult to injury I asked and was told that the seller would be allowed to relist his RV at PPL at a higher price to allow him to cover the note. I guess he did not understand that PPL would be keeping 10% of what he agreed as a sale price. If PPL was really treating buyer and seller as equal they would have told this guy to pick up his RV by the next day or pay impound fees. Apparently they are more interested in getting that commission rather than any right of the buyer who was jerked around. Sooo great place to tour RV styles and buy somewhere else, or sell a junker that might have issues. Been burned there, never again...

Trauma, buying an RV? The situation you encountered was not PPL's fault.

PPL knows what these things typically go for and they, along with the seller, agree on a starting price before listing. Don't know for sure but I imagine there is also an agreement made on the lowest offer the seller would be willing to take. I do know that PPL will contact the seller if an offer comes in that is lower than what was agreed to and that they will not do anything until the seller is contacted.

As far as buying,, you need to go look for yourself first. I've been to PPL a few times and can tell you that pictures don't tell the whole story. There are some really nice rigs but at the same time, there is plenty of junk that gets put up for sell.

My last trip was with my Mom who saw PPL's listing of a 2004 BT Cruiser. We called first to make sure it was there and then took off for Houston to take a look at it. It had a few blemishes but it turned out to be the rig she wanted. We offered $2k lower than what was asked, the salesman contacted the owner, the owner accepted, and we drove it home. Turned out to be a pleasant buying experience for us.

We highly recommend PPL for selling (our only experience). Yes, you do have to be careful about the condition of some RVs but don't put blame on PPL. It is up to the owner to clean the RV before putting it on the lot. A little elbow grease works wonders with a sale. We saw that some owners seemed to drive it in from their previous camp spot... trash in the wastecans, floor dirty, papers strewn around, etc. Some people don't take care of their property and they think it's normal. It's not up to PPL to clean them out. They'll do it for a fee, however. That's why you'll find some junk on the lot. However, they have many extremely nice RVs on their lot that were cared for. Think of PPL (or any consignment place) as a place to park the RV and advertise it for you. They are under no obligation to do anything else.

The well-cared for RVs sell fast. The others not so.

Great to deal with bought my Splendide 2100 XC from them under $1000 at least $200 less than most other RV sales.

Our experience was much different than most responses apparently. We placed a late model Diesel Pusher with them and had a terrible experience. Got a few extreme lowball offers and finally decided to pick up the rig and sell it elsewhere. When I went to pick it up it was parked in an area where all the water from the rain collected. It apparently had been there for a long time since the weeds had grown up and around. We had paid extra for the service that had them wash and run the rig on a regular basis. This was apparently not done. When I went to start the rig to leave the batteries, both house and chassis, were completely dead. The inside of the rig was full of muddy footprints, people had taken light bulbs, rocker switch covers and other souvenirs. So even if a serious buyer did take an interest in the rig the failure to keep the rig in top condition would almost assuredly turned them off.
While I waited for the batteries first be charged (that failed) and then replaced I roamed the lot and found many other rigs to be similarly neglected. Several were parked so close together you couldn't get the door open. There was absolutely no security or oversight on the lot. You may like not being bothered by a sales person when you are looking to buy, but I didn't like the fact people can literally do anything inside my rig and never be questioned. My rig was probably the most expensive on the lot, most rigs are older and rode hard then put up wet. If you have a $10,000 to $20,000 rig that is reaching the end of it's lifespan PPL is probably as good a place as any to sell. If it is $100K and up, is well kept and the features would need a bit of explaining (i.e. Aquahot over furnace engine size, chassis advantages etc) to satisfy a buyer go elsewhere. Their lower end customer base and lack or oversight on the lot makes them a poor bet for expensive rigs. Consider Motorhome Specialists instead.

Agree, PPL just parks them. https://www.motorhomesoftexas.com/?g...hoCO2cQAvD_BwE These guys plug all coaches into 50 amp service, clean up and detail and stage, to make them look good. They charge the same 10% as PPL. They normally only take coaches in fairly good condition, but it is up to you to make sure they are mechanically sound.

They are not a dealership. They are a consignment facility. You can get questions answered from the RV owner via PPL just like you would from a private party sale. It's up to you to get an independent inspection done, if you choose.... just like you would from a private party sale. Some don't understand consignment.
