Maybe they ought to transfer ownership of the auto companies TO the Unions. Now...THAT would be interesting.

The labor costs on a new Union built automobile is 10%. That includes all of the benefits. The retirement fund is also in this amount- it is put in a seperate fund which is mandated by the federal government. Most of the money problems of the auto industry stem from the consumer not having any money to spend on anything but the necessities. Indiana Journey

Lets not knock the unions. Without them there would be no vacations, no health insurance, no disability, no 40 hour work week, no lunch 1/2 hour, no morning or afternoon coffee break, no safety programs, no training programs, just work work and more work! There would be sweat shops and child labor and many unsafe practices taking place. The unions have made work conditions better for everyone, union and non-union.

And my union pension - well it is 100% funded because of good management and good investments, unlike many other private pentions which companies borrowed from and ruined and the government had to take them over.

xxxxxxx...I've seen what the union did to GE here in Salem, and it should be a crime. Workers who wouldn't work or follow proper procedures. If the supervisor got on them they would threaten him/her with the union. A lot of good workers got laid off because they didn't have seniority over some dead beat union worker. I watched how my girl friend was treated, and all she ever did was waste her money on union dues, cause the union sure didn't do her any good.

Let's watch what is being said. State your opinion or case, but do not let this go to a Union/non-union debate.
