Definitely do not trust the sensors.

One day we left the rig to run up to the campground office for a minute. We knew rain was coming, but it was a couple hours away. What we didn’t know was there were strong winds a couple hours ahead of the storm front. We were only gone 10 minutes. On the way back to the rig, the wind started gusting. When we got back to our site, the front corner of the awning was being pushed down hard by the wind. The awning motor was trying to retract, but the wind had the awning bent too far down and the force was too great for the motor to retract. I lifted and held the awning in place so the motor could pull it back in. Was a close call.

Yeah that sucks. I think mine is a 21'. I called my buddy and he said that he paid $900 for the tube but it came with awning, metal cover, torsion springs, ready to hang on the supports. A few years earlier he paid $500 for just the fabric and metal cover. So not a bad deal. He also paid like $100 in freight.

He said he bought from Makarios RV 1-888-340-7837.
Hope that helps you out.

Violated my own rule about always bringing in the awning when unattended. A pop-up storm rolled in and filled the awning with water. I came back and rushed into the coach to get a broom to push up on the awning and get the water out......but it collapsed before I got the broom in hand. The noise was gut wrenching and the damage included a window when the arms snapped. $1700 for everything. My fabric was okay, but threading it onto the roller was a nightmare.

I and fellow camper used to go around a dump people's awnings a camping club. We came across one that was like a swimming pool. Looked like whole camper would flip like Fred Flintstones car with Brontosaurus ribs.
After the Midwest land hurricane it dropped tons of trees and branches same club . I'm sure there were 70mph gusts. I went around to check friends campers. There were several campers with manual awnings all the way down but out.none were broke or damaged. I absolutely couldn't believe it.

Experience is an unforgiving teacher. Once while camping a strong wind and rain began, I stowed my awning ASAP, my buddy said he though his would be alright. One hour later his looked like yours.
