I have the Garmin 660 have used it only once but am generally happy with it. I think the key to using it is to know how to program it to get the results you expect. I've been practicing on Garmin's Basecamp and comparing it's recommended routes to that of the RV 660. When both are programed to the same parameters they came up with exactly the same routing.
One nice feature of the 660 is the ability to change routing on the fly. It's very easy and does a good job.
One thing that may confuse some people is that when you put a destination and create a route, the unit recalculates the route each time it is turned on. So if you have temporary avoidance or parameters and overnight somewhere short of your destination, when you start up again the next day you must make sure your parameters are as you wish.
As far as the unit routing you to the wrong place, that's simply your fault for not making sure your destination is where you thought it is. Using Basecamp, RV parky, Trip Wizzard, Allstrays, etc and cross referencing that with your GPS unit will avoid those nasty U turns.

I just looked at the RV 770 LMT-S. Besides the size I don't really see a big difference in it and the RV 660 LMT.

Mark since you are so Apple minded please me how all the data is input into the GPS/HIS data base. The only way to prove GPS location is to ground trueth each and every location, ain't gonna happen. The locations turned in As wrong do eventually get corrected. But all the data for maps and address coordinates were and are human input by digitizing old maps and hand input of the individual locations again by humans. Any thought that Apple may get it better is again ignorance. They will be using the same input with the same errors, maybe different algorithms that might help but I doubt it. And don't even get me started on map projections verses GPS or WGS 84 and their location differences. Little education here for those not knowing what I am babbling about, simply put WGS84 is calculated as center of earth, what GPS uses and map projections are surveyed from an arbitrary point on the earth serface so the difference in a given point on a map although physically the same point will have different coordinates or map positions. You can see this on your GPS when you appear to be driving off the road although driving on the guest.

Not necessarily Apple minded, but I do have a number of Apple products. However in this case, I'm results minded. Google navigated us correctly while Garmin did not. Twice. Simple as that.

many areas here in Texas.. no signal in large areas..
NOT everyone HAS Great Health...
YOU have any idea what its like loosing your direction.. in a city you lived at for 40 years..

I had a chance to check out the RV660 against my Android operated WAZE nav app yesterday going from my house to the Tampa RV supershow about 18 miles away. I set the 660 to car mode with the avoid gravel roads as the only restriction. The WAZE app had no restrictions set.
The supershow is at the FL state fair grounds and there apparently are several entrances and parking areas. I wanted to park in the lot off of US 301 and my WAZE app gave me several parking options when I put in FL state fairgrounds but I couldn't determine which one was the one I wanted so I just picked one. The 660 did not give me as many options and I really can't remember if it even gave me more than one so I just used the first one that came up. It turned out to be the one I wanted. The WAZE app lot I picked was not the parking lot I wanted but it really didn't matter because it routed me right by the US 301 lot anyway.
Both units picked the same route at least initially, that being I75 to I believe it was MLK and then US 301 to the parking lot. A pretty simple straight forward uncomplicated route.
As I got closer to the fairgrounds while still on I75 I noticed the WAZE app had rerouted me off the interstate onto another road. I'm really not that familiar with the area and I thought perhaps the WAZE app was picking a shorter distance instead of shorter time. The 660 still was navigating using the originally calculated route. As I approached the off ramp that the WAZE app had selected I noticed traffic had back up ahead of me and it looked like it had almost come to a standstill. I also noticed the 660 showed the route ahead had turned to yellow instead of the normal purple indicating slow traffic ahead. I had the 660 linked to my cell phone so it was getting traffic updates.
So I took the recommended re-route suggested by the WAZE app and the 660 almost immediately rerouted me to the same new route that WAZE was now on. When I got about half a mile from the parking lot traffic slowed to a standstill (due to the RV show) and the WAZE app notified me of the revised ETA due to traffic. The 660 never notified me and the ETA just changed to reflect the slower speed.
For a car the WAZE is a better navigator especially its crowd sourced traffic info and rerouting capabilities and road hazards display. But the 660 tells you in advance which lane to be in for an upcoming turn and it also has school zones that display. The 660 also displays upcoming gas stations and restaurants but I've noticed it is not all inclusive and one time in a rural area it showed a Waffle House in the middle of a field. It does a good job of showing upcoming camp sites and repair facilities but my guess is it’s not all inclusive for those either.
I have not used the 660 in RV mode and I think its real value will be using it in that mode. It's supposed to route you around low bridges and roads with hair pin turns based on your RV's characteristics. I’ve read it is not all inclusive in its bridge database so caution should be exercised. I purchased the lowclearances.com database of bridge POI’s which I installed on basecamp and when I figure out how to do it I’ll also install them on the 660.
All in all I like the 660 but only if I had or rather when I get an RV. It does a good job of allowing you to re-route (I think they call it reshape) a route on the fly, an option not included in the 760. The voice recognition software is not as good as an android phone, at least for me as I wasn’t able to get it to recognize “FL State Fairground”, the android recognized it right away.

I have no idea why Google did not pick up this information when I Googled Garmin RV770. Maybe I need to stop using Google and use a different search engine.
Anyway, here is my understanding of the biggest differences between the old RV-760 LMT GPS and the new Garmin RV770-LMT-S GPS based on this link.
RV770 now comes with Wi-Fi for updating maps and software eliminating the need for a USB cable tethered to your PC. It also comes with route elevation views.
One more new item that works with the RV770 is the new Garmin Smartwatch. A device that would be unless to me.
It's for people who forget where they parked their RV or vehicle.

I have almost stopped using the RV mode in my RV660 lmt. It would be a whole lot better for me if the Mrs. G would just notify me of the obstructions instead of automatically routing me differently than the auto mode. On our last trip this fall, I was on a good secondary road with tractor trailer truck traffic. Mrs G told me to turn and she took me onto a small county and about 3 miles out of the way. The county road was narrow, and tree branches were hitting the top and side of the coach! After we got to the campground I switch Mrs G to auto mode and we drove the route again. There weren't any low bridges, underweight bridges or tight curves. Nothing that would keep a large tractor trailer from driving on it. This rerouting has happened several times. So now we use the RV mode, then check it against the auto mode. If different then I try to see why using Google Earth. I keep hoping Mrs G will improve every time I update her.
Voice recognition: Mrs G doesn't have any problems understanding my granddaughter at all, but I guess she doesn't like me as much. I think she is beginning to understand me better, but I still struggle. In the Honda toad, I don't have any problems with her understanding me.

The 760 quite happily tried to route me across Atlanta on surface streets. Why? The idiot had it set to route shortest rather than fastest. Pilot error.
Last year I routinely used Google Maps on the phone while driving the toad in east-central Texas. It gleefully routed me along various single-lane farm-to-market roads; the 760 never did that, preferring state/US highways that were more appropriate for a big, heavy RV...as I had set it up to do.
I also found the default 760 voice to be a huge nag; I discovered that a different voice doesn't babble near a much. Odd.
We sure expect perfection from these devices. I suppose it was the same back when that newfangled device called a "magnetic compass" came out and it led sailors onto the rocks.

The RV760 will add a point on a route on the fly. Wife did it twice the other day when the fasted or shortest route was a route thru areas we wanted to avoid. I think she use a point on the map, an arbitrary point on a SR we wanted.
Looks like I will be in the market for the new GPS and move the RV760 to the SUV. The better screen and a couple new options should be of help.
