Apple's CarPlay does run Sygic's GPS navigation system and I do use that with CarPlay.

As for map updates with Sygic, 4 updates a year are free if you have the paid product and they do not seem out of date. Sygic displays speed limits as part of their paid product and those are kept current by the map updates.

I could have been more clear about maps on a vehicle screen. In Sygic there is the ability to import a route you might choose into the app from Google Maps. Sygic would identify any issues you might have along that route so you know whether it is clear. You could then mirror the route in Google Maps on your phone and use Android Auto to have it on your screen. It sounds complicated but really isn't once you have done it. Personally I just leave it on my phone until or unless the route is unfamiliar like getting off main highways closer to features or campgrounds. Then I bring up the directions and let the lady guide me.

Yes. I suppose that would work, although I have not seen any way to import a Google Maps route into Sygic. I would be interested in knowing how to do that. I do wonder why, if you are routing on Google Maps, you would switch back to Sygic to look for issues. What info will Sygic give you that Google Maps will not?

The point I was making is that Android Auto will not allow the Sygic app to be selectable as an on-info-screen app, probably because Android Auto is a Google product and they are promoting their own navigation system. Sygic markets Car Navigation specifically for that reason, and I have used it on my Ford info screen.

CarPlay is much more open and I use Sygic GPS on that when Google Maps will not work.

Could you explain how to do that? I can not find any way to import an external route into the app and I would very much like to be able to do something like that.

Thank you, device's become outdated, They can't absorb the new technology. 9 years is a nice run.

Ahh. That explains it. You are talking about Sygic Truck and I was talking about Sygic GPS for cars.

As far as I can tell Sygic Truck does not play through my RV's info system (Ford Sync 3) while Sygic GPS does, so I use it rather than the Truck app. If I could get the Truck app to work through that system I would certainly use it as it is much better suited for an RV than the car app.

Thanks for clarifying that.
