37 ft ford v10 get about 6 mpg at about 60-65 mph also get the gas buddy app and it will find the cheapest gas, be careful it does not make sure of height of cover or if there is enough room to get in or out.

RV milage

I find those computer guesstimates pretty accurate but then again, I only use the "miles remaining" info. Since there are so many variables that affect the gas milage on any given day, anything that you the driver mentally compute is at best a swag. If you want to know what your rig is going to burn on average, you need long term figures - time and miles - because what you averaged on today's drive may vary significantly from tomorrow's. My experience, based on 40K miles and 5 years travels with this rig, I generally compute using about 7 mpg to determine where/when I'm going to fill-up and I start looking for some place once I'm at a third of a tank. On Average when I fill up, I usually pump between 50-60 gals into my 80 gal. tank.

We have a 2006 Winnebago Voyage 38J, Workhorse W24 Chassis w/ 8.1 Chevy & Allison 6 Speed Transmission. We averaged 7.5 mpg over the last 3 years. That is calculated using gas receipts versus miles traveled. The best sort trip we had was 120 miles of flat road going 50 mph and we got 11.8 mpg, but that is not real world mpg. It was 45 degrees out side and we weren't running the generator just using coach heat from the engine.

Milage

I totally agree with one of the former posters- If you are concerned about fuel cost, don't by an RV. You will probably find fuel is the cheapest part of using your RV. Tires, insurance, maintenance, cost of campgrounds, replacement components, these far outweigh your fuel bills!

Talking 2011 Damon/Thor Avanti 2806 FRED

avg 70 mph not towing was 11 mpg (average)
avg 65 mph not towing was 13.5 mpg
avg 65 mph towing Honda CRV 12.5 mpg (average)

Hills, wind and speed make a difference. My rig is different and has a sloped front end, so I think that helps. When heading out on a long trip, I always like to have on board water, so the fresh water tank is full. (50 gallons)

The specs say that I should get up to 14.4 mpg, and I have gotten close a few times.

For the size of my rig, I am very pleased. It is 28.75' long with a full room slide out. I love the fact that eventhough gas mileage is pretty good for an RV, they put in a 60 gallon fuel tank. I also like that I don't have to mess with DEF.

I am not blessed enough to be able to can afford a DP (although I wish I could). It is true that if you can afford one, most times you don't care about fuel efficiency. I'm happy that as a teacher, my rig enables me to take trips 1000-2000 miles away on my budget.

Happy travels!

I look at RV fuel mileage as a nothing more than trivia. If fuel cost is an issue owning one of these things, then I dare say you should look into some other form of vacationing. A difference of 2 MPG would look like this on 1,000 miles: 8MPG @ $4.00 per gallon= $500.00; 10MPG @ $4.00 per gallon is $400.00. A $100 difference for a trip from Ohio to Florida is basically insignificant to me, given the costs of everything else associated with ownership. I say ditch worrying about mileage and concentrate on what you need/want for your RV experience.

I see several posts saying something along the lines of if you have to ask you shouldn't have an RV!

I think that opinion is very cavalier.

Some of us have RVs that cost +1M dollars. Some of us have RVs that we got for free. For some the cost of fuel for a certain trip may be the deciding factor if the trip is feasible. That extra $200 for fuel might be needed for kids shoes!

Just because someone is on a budget doesn't mean they enjoy RVing any less than those who don't care about the cost.

Some of us just want to know our fuel economy. Ain't nothin' wrong with that either!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If that opinion denigrates someone maybe that opinion shouldn't be shared.

PS, I expect to be slapped for my opinion!

Mileage

I've been recording all fuel info on our home since we owned it. We have a 2015 Allegro 31SA with a V-10 Triton, and usually tow a V-nose trailer with a Harley. The average on the last 10,000 miles is 6.5 mpg. It done get any better then this........

That is really impressive. I'm amazed that Cummins continued development of the ISB up to 6.7 liters and rated 340hp for RV's with Auto Trans and 600-700 lbft of torque. They have really stoked this platform for giant pickup trucks with higher HP or torque or both but with manual transmissions. There is also an RV version rated at 370hp and 800 lbft but not sure what it is in.

I'm amazed they get that out of a 6.7 liter. The 8.3 liter ISC was 330-350-370hp with 1050 lbft and certainly pulled stronger with less stress to the engine and the ISL (my favorite) at 8.9L 400 hp and 1200-1250 lbft is the overall winner for best RV motor ever but that is a 6-7.9 mpg max in a 30K coach depending on Gen on or off.

It really never bothered me until I started reading about the same rigs,(or Bigger) getting over 8 to 9 mpg. If someone on here has a comparable rig , with the 400 ISL, please post your MPG. I have been told I could possibly have something wrong. I have checked the turbo, manifold for cracks etc. Thanks MOMCAT
We usually get 7-7.5mpg towing our CR-V with the cruise set to 62mph. Saw 8mpg once. Lower mileage in hills, upwind, and off-highway. Have seen as low as 6mpg in local stop and go traffic. We let the Allison decide when to shift, run it in "economy" mode, and except for speed overruns due to the +7mph lag on the cruise that often makes us switch it off going downhill for speed control, let the CC do its thing.

Feel free to ping me via PM if you want to compare detailed notes. A Scangauge D is helpful in a number of ways (boost pressure, operating temperature, etc.).
